We own the 6th seed?

I'd look at it this way. Right now, we are better than all the other teams fighting for the same spot. So there's no reason to think we can't continue to outplay them. They are just as likely to lose as we are. And that said, if we are top 6 in the AFC, then we ought to be able to compete with the Denver and Indy. So being em on. Even Fitzpatricks' clock in right twice a day. once we get to the playoffs, who knows what will happen. Maybe Chris Johnson goes off or something. So anything is possible.

Its exciting to be in that playoff spot, but I dont have much hope. We are playing some bad football. Janikowski sort of handed us that win today. If we beat the Colts next weekend, I will officially get excited

For now, we are in the playoffs after 12 weeks. Minor victory the way things have been going.

 

Jesus, we'd almost clinch a playoff berth if we didn't blow chunks against the Jags and Colts.

Exactly. I know they say no NFL game is a "gimme", but the Jags game was as close to a gimme as any game could possibly be. And we blew it. When you fail to take advantage of games like that it's almost always going to come back to bite you.

 

Yeah, it shows how pathetic the AFC is this year. Only 5 of 16 teams has a winning record.

9 of 16 NFC teams has a winning record.

 

I honestly don't think we're better than them. Maybe not worse, but not better either. But yeah, we're still mathematically in it so there's at least a chance. But there are two things keeping me from being able to get too excited:

1.) The schedule. We have to play Denver, Arizona, and 3 teams who have already beat us once this year.

2.) We are a very mediocre football team playing very bad football right now.

I've just seen this story play out too many times. Blow games against inferior teams and finish just on the outside looking in. "If only we hadn't lost that one game." Sigh.
