Corey Lynch returns to Titans

Safety Corey Lynch says the Titans didn’t mention specific responsibilities to him when they signed him, and he wasn’t about to ask what his role might be.

“They just said, `Come on,’” Lynch said. “I don’t know what they want me to do, but I’ll do anything.”

The Titans officially added Lynch to the roster on Monday, filling the hole left open when the team cut returner Darius Reynaud last week.

Lynch will give the team depth at free safety, which could come in handy since Michael Griffin suffered a quad injury in the Titans’ game against San Francisco. In addition, the 6-0, 210-pound Lynch could aid the team on special teams.

A five-year NFL veteran, Lynch spent a good bit of the preseason with the Titans before he was one of the team’s final cuts.

“I just came in and learned fast (during the preseason),” Lynch said. “You really don’t get a chance to display all your talents in the preseason, but I still feel like I can contribute to the team.”

Griffin didn’t appear to be too hampered by the injury in the Titans’ locker room on Monday, but there was no official word from the team on his status. Titans coach Mike Munchak was in Houston for the funeral of Bud Adams, and the team doesn’t have to offer an injury update until Wednesday.
