What's your point? Do you not remember how much press and hype USC got during that time? By ESPN!

ESPN is not controlling which conference gets a shot at the National Title game. They are hyping a product that they invested in because that product is dominating the market right now. You said it yourself, "if the Big 10 or ACC got a few titles, the same would happen to them." The problem is, there haven't been any National Championship caliber teams to come out of the Big 10 or ACC in several years.
