Oh Alex... you're still trying. All heart!

No, not if any other conference did that it'd be "the same".

The SEC has about 2 legit contenders per season. Same as any other conference.

I won't even bring in the part you guys ignore: how many of them did it without an investigation after?

    ONE. (Florida)

ONE SEC team in the past 10 years won and then didn't face sanctions.

No no my friend. You made the claim. The burden of research and proof is on you. Why.. oh why.. does the SEC get special treatment?

I am old enough to remember life before SEC dominance. We didnt always get this sort of treatment .. and you dont need google to answer this question.

Wahhhh the SEC has 8 teams in the top 25, it's soooo unfair......

I'm surprised you can still go on living as upset you are at

5 different SEC Teams winning 9 of 15 BCS CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. BEST CONFERENCE EVER!

That deal took place in 2008 and didn't start until the 2009 season. So... what's your excuse for the years before?

Also, the Big 10 and ACC also have contracts with ESPN. What's their excuse?

SEC didn't always get this treatment, you're right.

ESPN has money invested in the SEC.

And now has an SEC Network they just partnered up for.

    Beyond that-

The myth began with a few title wins. After that, it was generated by coat-tailing fans of teams like... UT, yours, Kentucky, Vandy, Ole Miss-- well, basically every team that wasn't LSU, Auburn, Florida and Alabama.

Now, those latter teams have been very good at points in recent history. But never at the same time.

Florida and Auburn right now are both pretty bad.

Alabama has been about the only consistent force there recently.

Since the rest of the teams, outside of those 4 are usually terrible.... They use the historically good teams at the top of the food chain to carry them through their decades of struggle.

So they created this very odd thing called "Conference pride".

Notice, conference pride doesn't exist anywhere outside of college football... and it's only in one conference?

You'll never hear chants of WESTERN SOUTHWEST! WESTERN SOUTHWEST! at NBA games.
You'll never hear chants of AL EAST! AL EAST! AL EAST! in baseball.

You'll never witness anything like that beyond one specific group. Not in Hockey, not in Soccer, not in Quiddich or whateverthefack Harry Potter plays. None.

Because in every other sport- if you suck, you suck. If you're good, you're good. The end. There's no bs, magical, mythical reason as to why so you get points for playing in a certain conference or division.

Now. What conference pride does- is hypes up all teams that your team plays - and since your team sucks, you begin to justify it by saying "It's because we have such a tough schedule"... which would be great! And maybe even a logical argument... IF... this wasn't proven incorrect time and time again.

Like when your crappy team beats one of the teams that have been overhyped and started off being ranked #5 merely for being in the SEC... but now are number 15 because they've lost to Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Now most people would just say that number 15 team just isn't as good as we thought. NOPE! Not anymore! Not in this conference! No... that #15 team is great! They're just playing against the SEC... where ALL teams are amazing!

.... and then we'll ignore when this team gets crushed in their bowl game by some mediocre out of conference opponent, or when they play Florida Atlantic OOC and it's a closer game than everyone thought. Wait! They blew out Vanderbilt! And Vanderbilt is an SEC team, right?!

    ....

You're welcome. You now understand. Mind blown?

2008 was 5 years ago, bro. :) Longer than you're thinking.

And USC then was still coming off their era of dominance. The SEC hype train hadn't begun.

    Magic how that works, eh?

If the BIG10 and ACC got a few titles, the same would happen to them.

When you have no rebuttal, just stick to the "man, you don't know anything. But I'm not going to provide any type of argument just in case" schtick.

    Works every time!
