So we have a battle brewing... Mariani vs Reynauld for the return job. Mariani spent two years as our returner, Reynauld basically got the job last year because of Marcs injury in preseason. Here's some stats:

    Marc:
    2011: 78 ret, 1238 yards, 1 TD, 15.9 Avg, 1 Fum, 2 Muffs
    2010: 87 ret, 1859 yards, 2 TD, 21.4 Avg, 3 Fum, 2 Muffs (PRO-BOWLER)
    Contract: 1 year remaining @ $644,850

    Reynauld:
    2012: 84 ret, 1650 yards, 3 TDs, 19.6 Avg, 1 Fu, 6 Muffs
    Contract: 1 year remaining @ $1,000,000

Bottom line: Both provided basically nothing to our offense. Marc is more consistent, less muffs, better average. Reynauld provides the home-run potential, more muffs, crappy returns but occassionally breaks the big one. Do we cut both and draft someone to return for us? Remember we have 7 WRs on the roster right now, and 3 RBs.

I don't think Mariani will be healthy come training camp. He suffered a very traumatic injury and I haven't heard much about his rehab. Both guys will be considered Wrs I think, Reynaud wouldn't be that bad of a slot-type guy. So I think it'll be Reynaud.

Have you looked at the stats for returners of other teams? I didn't see a whole lot of great returns from any returners last season. I think you should have some comparison figures before you vilify both of them.

Have them both split some returns early in the season.. I think Marc will prove to be better, if he can get healthy again. It's safe to say that this time next season, only one of them will be on the team. But hey, at least this position battle is "Who is better?" not "Who is less bad" like a lot of our position battles go

I prefer Reynaud, as he can break the big one, and isn't coming off of an injury where his leg was broken in half like a twig.

If Mariani is healthy he shouldn't have a problem beating out Reynaud. Reynaud sucks balls. One good game against the Jags doesn't make the guy good.

What? Mariani sucks man. Dude is slow. Reynaud fair catches on the 5 once a game though. So ya they both kinda suck
