Arian Foster played behind a better Offensive line, an lets not forget that Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson are alot scarier than Jake Locker and Nate Washington. You think Foster did anything special to get positive yards consistently? Maybe its because he didnt get hit in the backfield nearly as much as CJ did last year. This is beating a dead horse but again, under the circumstances that happened last year, CJ had a very solid year, and outside of AP, I wouldnt trade him for any other running back in the league.

Ok.... just forget everything I have said and answer me a question......

Which is more important. Sustaining drives, or CJ breaking off 3 runs in the year and making his stats look like had a "good" year as you say. Because what I saw last year, was a running game that will get us nowhere, regardless of whos fault it is.

Sure, let take away CJ's top 10 plays, and bottom 10 plays, and see what we come up with. Thats completely fair.

Just as it is fair to say that breaking off 3 big runs to make your stats look better, its fair to say lets take away some of the negative ones due to the line.

And you said you reviewed all of the games last year? I didnt review all of them, but I saw enough to know that both were to blame. CJ was wanting too much, and tried to bounce it outside way too often. Both CJ and the line were the problems.

Then we are getting screwed in more ways than my ex wife at a drunken party

Im perfectly fine with taking away his top 10 runs, and bottom 10 runs, and we will see a below average running game

We are not arguing his career. We are arguing the current state of the running game.

So basically he is good at running through wide open holes because he is fast?

Yes or no. Do you believe that CJ needs an elite line to be a good runner.

He WAS an elite play maker. He was not one last season. Hopefully he is this coming season. I hope as much as anyone that we can open holes big enough for a truck to fit through so CJ can be a play maker again.

It was on the line, it was on CJ, it was on Palmer as well. Palmer sucks but if the players could execute plays, we would not have sucked so much. There are plenty of fingers to point. However I am VERY happy that Palmer is gone. Only way he ever succeeds is if he gets a lot of really smart players.

OK, but I think that OC has been sacked cause well running the option in the NFL is pretty real stupid

Nothing can excuse the little guys complete lack of stones though

I would prefer the little guy was not on the field when the game is out of reach

We must be watching competely different teams because i think this whole notion that cj bounces it oustide way to much is overblown, and honestly not even the case. Most of the time his negative runs come from getting hit as soon as he touches the ball or getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage because there was nowhere for him to go. Ironically on oustide run plays CJ most often cuts back up the middle. Thats the reason why opp defenses dont over commit on our outside runs because they know cj is dangerous at cutting up the middle of the field. The only times i see him cut out to the oustide is out of desperation because the running play was blown up before it even evolved. I will agree with the assessment that both cj and the OL were the problem for our running game struggling to sustain drives. I dont agree that cj needs an elite OL to be a great player, he just needs a decent OL. We didnt have either for the last 2 years. Cj doesnt need a big hole to run through. That is the funny part to me. He is small and fast as hell. He only needs a small hole to break to the next level as you can see from his biggest plays of his career. Things are different now though. Everybody has studied the tape on this guy and they are not going to be caught off guard of his rare speed. Now its up to our coaches and the players around him to step their game up because all eyes are on him and have been for the past couple of years.

    Hoge says it well:

“The selling point at the end of the day is that you believe this will be the best thing for your team,” Hoge said. “Do you want to be the all-time leading rusher for a single season or do you want a Super Bowl ring? Depending on how you answer that, you’ve got a pretty good idea of how it’s going to work.”

CJ needs to get on board

I'd trade him strait up for Foster AP MJD or a healthy Darren McFadden. CJ is #5.
