My biggest problem with it too. Without a doubt. People have to make a commitment to be responsible pet owners.

I foster dogs(95% puppies) who are rescued from shelters. I put a lot of work in to finding good homes for these animals. Some of them are here for over a month, but they all go to what I see as good homes. I don't make a dime. I'm not looking for any sympathy or anything, I enjoy it to the utmost, but this really bothers me.

Not to mention who knows where these animals are coming from. Probably puppy mills.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, I didn't read the whole article, but it has pluses and minuses (obviously).

I think people are turned off by the term "rent" and "lease". Can you keep the pets if you want?

If you see a dog as family, your family probably sucks.

    Let's be real.

Personally- I think dogs are awesome. For about a month. Then they become annoying. That cuteness wears off real quick if they poop in your bed or you step in piss on your way to make coffee in the morning. Let me know when your family does this in the middle of the night- and how upset you'd be if they did.

You're not going to find a lot of people agreeing with you here.

And to put it simply. You are wrong in that a family must suck if a dog is part of it.

I didn't say a family sucks if a dog is part of it. I said if you see a dog as the equivalent of a family member, your family is in a sad state. People that value a dog that much are usually extremely lonely types.

Not downing that. I get it. You know the types. Like the couple that talks about their dogs like they're kids in front of people that actually have real kids. Everyone is thinking it. Not even close to the same thing.

I like dogs. But they're just dogs. Better than cats, but still... just dogs.

Never had a kid piss their bed? A drunk relative piss somewhere they shouldn't in the middle of the night? Both have happened to me.

Crate training pretty much takes care of that, by the way.
