The Titans are shopping receiver Nate Washington, but right now, it’s a risky proposition.

At this point, I don’t know how the Titans could afford to trade him with their current crop of receivers.

That could change, however, if they’re able to land someone else. Already they’ve shown interest in Rams receiver Danny Amendola, so they’re at least looking.

NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah first reported on Tuesday the Titans are looking to trade Washington. With a $4.2 million price tag attached to him – and a $4.8 million salary in 2014 – that might be tough.

The Titans don’t have the most reliable guys at the position, so it would also be dangerous to part ways with Washington at this point.

Kenny Britt has one year left on his deal, and perhaps one more strike left, with nine off-field incidents and counting. Receiver Kendall Wright had a solid rookie year, but has just one season under his belt and plenty to learn. Marc Mariani is coming off an injury, and Lavelle Hawkins is coming off an unproductive season.

The team also has Damian Williams, who is talented, but hasn’t yet produced a breakout year.

Washington had 46 catches for 746 yards and four touchdowns last season. His receiving yards total was the best on the team.

Right now, he’s valuable, but expensive. Things could change if the Titans find someone else.

Wyatt very reserved on this. Of course we can't trade Nate and not get another WR. Webster obviously has a plan.

So we'll be trading a receiver who is playing his best ever...
In favor of a guy who we would not care at all about without Tom Brady? I'll tell you this right now, Washington will be better with the titans than welker would be this season.

LOL Welker is a wuss. Seriously, how many free agents who threatened to sit out the season to get paid, just sit around and wait on their current team. I mean Wallace gets 13 mil a year, Welker hasnt left NE yet. He is what we say "OWNED" I hope NE gives him a crappy deal and force him to sign it.

I think welker can make a mediocre QB look better than average, plus he's a true 3rd down receiver.

I don't want to see us trade Nate. Has chemistry and is proven.

This puts a damper on today's events.

True but if I said to you what was a huge concern after watching this team last year, you would say? My gosh, when is the defensive situation ever going to get addressed? Tons of talent out there and were focused on trading receivers for more receivers. And don't tell me the backup DT from Detroit is our big addition or about how we are going to draft rounds 4-7 on defense.

No way welker is a wuss. he deserves a big contract, honestly though getting welker here is a pipe dream anyways.
