I'd love to keep Amano as a backup, just not at the price we're currently paying. Offer to restructure his contract or cut/re-sign or just cut him altogether.

Still wouldnt be surprised to see a center drafted in the mid-rounds. If Velasco was in the long-term plans we would have signed him to a multi-year deal.

Velasco is a good quality back up. He did well last year filling in a couple of spots. I doubt anyone is going to be willing to give us a 2nd round pick for him, hes not that good. Looks like we have a plan for some depth now. Good deal, maybe this is a start for the improvements to our offensive line. Just hoping they don't get tunnel vision on repairing it and forget about our other need areas that could be addressed this off season.

Fix the lines and everything else magically improves. I hope we go balls to the wall on the lines, both sides of the ball.

It will depend on what happens in FA and the draft as to whether Velasco is in our long term plans. We did the exact right thing.

Why not? He has a lot of experiences as he has started a lot of games. Even though he isn't a starting caliber offensive lineman, he still got the job, meaning he was our best option at the time. Don't let your hatred towards him blind the facts: He is better than Devan Kyle, Duce Lutui, Kevin Matthews, Mike Otto, Mitch Petrus, Brian Stingily, and Kasey Studdard. (all of our backups)

I'd love for our line next year to be: Stewart, Chance, Velasco, Levitre, and Roos. If we don't get Levitre, let Hutch get another chance. Amano would be a great backup if we can get the price down.

Good move, keep the guy around. He's a decent starting C. Now let's put some great guards between him.
