Jeff Fisher's experiment with Jared Cook is over. It did not work. We took a project and he did not pan out. Maybe he will elsewhere. Time for us to move though.

Sign him, cut him , trade him, Whatever him. I don't care anymore. Thing is he probably doesn't want to be on this team anymore ,I mean He did ask for a trade last season, and Ruston should have unloaded this headache when he had value to some other team .
Yes he may be this teams best offensive weapon(but not really) that just means this the teams best(?) weapon is an average tight end.If they do resign him it should be based on his production so far and not his or his agents perceived value of him.
So let him become a free agent he'll find out his true market value soon enough.

Yes - because overpaying Jerm Finley will make us good.

Bad teams get good by the draft, not overpaying free agents.

Cook had an expiring contract, GM's don't typically look to rent players for 6 weeks then lose them to free agency.

I'm not so sure there was ever any possible trade looming.

I don't know I bet had they put him on the market, Chicago or Miami most likely would have been interested

Let's call a spade a spade. Jared Cook did not want to be here anymore (can't really blame him). It was pretty clear throughout various interviews/comments over the course of the season. I have serious doubts that this is really all about money. I bet he ends up signing elsewhere for a fairly modest deal that could've easily been accomplished here, if he was willing. No one is paying him top TE money. And I bet he brought up the issue of being tagged as a WR solely as a way to force himself onto the open market.

The Jared Cook ship has sailed. Time for us to move on.

I'm all for cutting Whiffin, Amano, and not re-signing Harris. You can't bargain basement shop for free agents all the time, we'll always be an 8-8 team if we do, sorry but it's the truth.
