All of this is true but Cook has been unhappy with us for at least a year now. If he really wanted to come back he wouldn't be pushing for the WR tag, yeah agent is doing his job but it wouldn't have been a deal breaker for a guy wanting to come back. He knows no team is going to offer 10 mil for him but he just wanted out, I don't even think a top TE can get that much money anyway. Gronk and Graham probably will get around there but they're on totally different levels.

There is definitely risk involved, but one thing the Titans agreed was that he is not worth 10 million even if another team would pay him that much. And I agree as well. We can find a mature and more experienced TE in free agency that could put up numbers like cook. However cook his big play potential unlike most others and that is why I think the Titans will continue to pursue a new deal with him at the fair price.

Sorry, but whoever thinks Cook will be back is pretty much delusional. I don't know what is going on behind the scenes in this relationship, but it's not and hasn't looked good for a while.

Yeah money does talk, but I think the relationship is just way too sour. I think it's to the point that if someone offers Cook $1.75 and we offer him $2.00, he will take the $1.75 to play elsewhere.

I think Cook will get nowhere near what he thinks he is worth on the open market. In 4 years he hasn't proven himself as a top notch players at either of his positions. He missed the last three games of the year with a tear to his rotor cuff that may or may not be healing according to plan. He has complained openly to the media during a bad year for his team. He still has to hang his hat on his potential all these years later. He will get pick up but he won't set the league on fire regardless who his quarterback is. Good Luck to Ya . . .

You guys know tagging him and him winning in arbitration would have cost this team over HALF of it's available salary cap space, right? Goodbye being a player in free agency for offensive linemen.

Cook is too inconsistent. He'll wow you and then leave you scratching your head.

Makes amazing catches, drops the easy ones, and can't block.

Wish him well though... and I won't even be upset if he does tear it up somewhere else. I'm sure in the right system he will. Maybe the Falcons would go after him - even if Gonzalez returns. I'd like to see them draft Eifert though.

Bears are in desperate need of a TE and there may be plenty of other teams wanting to utilize two TEs in the passing game like the Pats do.

    Packers would make sense too.

Yeah, he can go from Jake Locker sailing balls over his head to Christian Ponder throwing them at his feet.

I've not been following any contract talks. You wonder how much of this is just cat and mouse between Cook and the Titans. Cooks pushes for the WR tag to maybe drive up his contact offer some more. The Titans threatening using the TE tag would do the opposite.

By them saying they won't tag him at all tells me they either thought they'd be stuck giving him the WR tag or they are ready to move on and let him test the market.
