Scarecrow said something interesting a few days ago and he was right, when in doubt, go back to precombine feelings on guys.

If you put on the tape you can't not want Star on your team.

 

Not saying he is not good. Saying it is too risky taking a guy with a weak heart. Not "weak heart" but "a weak heart". He might not even be able to practice or play.

I would like to take Ansah with the 10th pick. His measurables at the combine were even better than JPP and his arms are even longer. His stats aren't as much as some others but he played all over the DL, even lining up at NT at times so he wasn't just rushing the QB all the time, which is what he would be doing here. I hate having Munchak as the coach because instead of drafting what is best for the team long term he is going to look for short quick fixes because his job is on the line. We need OL help but drafting OG at 10 when there is good talent there rounds 2-4 is just a waste of a pick. I wouldn't complain if we didn't have so many holes but the whole OL is in need of help. We need to resign Velasco for C. We need a starting LG and RG and possibly RT depending how Stewart comes back from injury.

 

Not a good sign for a guy that young who is an athlete. My 66 year old mother has him beat. Still, if the figure it out and everything looks safe I can get back behind Star. Just want to remain careful for now.

 

I like Ansah, I just have no desire to go DE in the 1st round... not with Warmack on the board. Heck, I'd even take Cooper over Ansah.

 

I am the exact opposite unless we trade back into the teens or later. OGs are just not that expensive to get in the open market as a DE would be. That's why they are drafted later because they are not as valuable as tackles or DL or even CB. They play an integral part on the line and we are or should be a running team but this is not the 80s where emphasis was really placed on the run. That is why they are not drafted as high and they don't get paid as much. There is no guarantee with anyone that is drafted, even if we were to get Warmack or Cooper. They dominated college but may not play as well in the NFL. It wouldn't be a first. At least trading back and getting one of them or Fluker you are getting more value and with Fluker get a OG that could also play RT if needed.

I see Levitre is rated pretty highly and everyone seems to want him. I however don't believe, even though OG is a need, if Suh, JPP, JJ Watt, Sherman, Revis, Calvin Johnson, or a number of other star players and then Levitre where in a draft we would see people say I want Levitre out of all of them. I know there is no way of knowing how players will turn out but that is why you go with the dynamic playmaking athletic potentially game changing people with the first pick, even if it takes a season to fully incorporate them like the Giants started JPP off. That is why shutdown corners and fast disruptive DLmen or LOT that don't surrender sacks and keep their franchise QB upright makes the big money.
