Why do people keep saying retire as an option when Urlacher is quoted that he WILL NOT RETIRE.

Normally the Pats would be a nice landing spot but they don't need an ILB at all. The Ravens might need two of them.

The retire option isn't going to be up to Urlacher. It is going to be up to the 32 teams. The point is if Urlacher hits the FA market and all he can find are backup job to guys like McCarthy (which no team i going to pay ore than a few mil) he will probably retire. There is no way in hell the guy is going somewhere to be a backup. That is the point. Now if he did sign with a team like the Raven to be a starter of course he doesn't retire. He takes his 3 mil a year and plays a few more years.

Except of course he publicly stated he wasn't going to retire BUT JUST CONTINUE TO IGNORE IT.

I mean no vet continues to play in a back-up role ever. Just like Randy Moss retired years ago.

He's trying to negotiate a new deal. He needs leverage. He's not gonna say he's thinking about retiring. He needs the Bears to believe he's willing to go to another team to play in order to get them to not just lowball him. He needs Bears fans to put pressure on the franchise not to let one of their all-time greats finish his career in another city.

    It's not complicated stuff.

Maybe he wants to go to San Diego to be as close as possible to the trashy celeb dating scene

Well, looks like Urlacher is hitting the open market. I wonder where he ends up, i'm assuming a contender. I could see the Broncos, Falcons, and Giants as the front runners - pure speculation.

What would you guys offer Urlacher. I'd max out at 2yrs/7mil.

He is one of the best to ever play his position dudes a beast, but he is nearing the end of his career and can't stay healthy anymore. If he were cheap enough id love to have him though but I don't look for it to happen.
