I'm not sure why Jason La Canfora would suggest Cook has no future in TN, I think most everyone is hopping he stays.

i feel like he was referring to when cook wasnt happy about the way he was being used or whatever the big ordeal was during the season...i still believe jordan reed would be better but cooks familiar with locker sort of but hopefully not so inconsistent this year

See my only issue with Cook is he's not a true TE, therefor I don't like this idea of paying him ~$6M.

But I'd rather overpay him for 1 year than lose him and really suck on offense. (see Finnegan) once we lost Cortland, the D stunk. Cook would have a similar effect on the O.

We ask our TE's to block, and Cook is lacking in that department, but his athleticism more than makes up for that, so we need to stop playing him like a traditional TE and utilize what he does best.

I know if I was calling plays I'd focus on Cook, he's a match-up nightmare.

Starting Monday, the Titans will have a two-week window to use a franchise tag on one of their free agents. The team isn’t expected to make the move immediately, however.

While the Titans aren’t obligated to use the tag, they’re expected to do so. Tight end Jared Cook is the most likely player to be tagged, since the Titans don’t want to lose him, and reaching a long-term deal with him any time soon isn’t expected.

The franchise tag for tight ends is expected to be roughly $5.967 million.

Cook, who has 1,717 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches over the past four seasons, is currently rehabbing from shoulder surgery. He’s expected to be ready for minicamps in June, however.

Titans kicker Rob Bironas would be the other option for the tag, which would only cost the team roughly $2.928. Signing Bironas to a long-term deal right now figures to be more realistic than getting something done with Cook, however. The deadline for the franchise tag is March 4.

A year ago the Titans placed the franchise tag on Michael Griffin, but later removed the tag after reaching a long-term deal with the safety.

Even though he can't block, I remember an article came out analyzing how many times we would 'run' when Cook was out there - and it was practically 0. I know he is a pure passing TE, but you cant just call passing plays when he's out there; that kind of predictability isn't even allowed on Madden anymore.

Lets see if Loggan can do some better things there. Also, if we do some option and pistol O, I think Cook would be much better.

yea i agree but then teams know whats coming when stevens comes in then. some fans here will say oh ya taylor thompson is gonna be the answer to do both for us, but no, he wont. he will be a practice squad player or back up, never a starter on this team. thats why i am all for picking up a TE like jordan reed in the 3rd, above average blocker and great mismatch(think of another hernandez) and moving stevens to fb like james casey style

I watch a lot of Patriots games, and I see Cook being our version of Aaron Hernandez.

Hernandez is also a pretty weak blocker, but somehow he's always out making plays. I guess it helps that Gronk gets a lot of the attention.

dude you cray cook does not mean to our offense what finnegan meant to our defense. not even close. he could if used right but we dont use him, so if we cut or traded him it wouldnt be much of a loss as compared to last year with him

Same reason reporters would report lies about Vince, CJ, or Britt. To get publicity.

Hernandez is much better in the open field with the ball than any of our WR's or TE's!
