This guy doesn't have a thread yet and after watching some videos on him and just my take on him from what I've seen over the past couple years thought he should have his own thread. His name has been trending up lately and some mocks even have him going to us at #10.

So just my overall take on him is I'm not sure how good of a 4-3 DE he will be. Seems like he relies a lot on his speed and athleticism and I really don't see a whole lot of technique just running right at the tackle or trying a spin move. That's not going to be very effective at the professional level, he doesn't have a move to get away from the blocker so when the blocker gets hands on him he's not very effective. His size worries me a bit, he needs to gain some weight and have a bigger body so it's harder for the OT's to push him around. He needs to work on wrapping up guys instead of going for the strip every single time, over pursuing, and just throwing an arm out there. Also watching the LSU DL I think they need to spread out a bit more, they seem too close for the DE"s to be really effective. Has anyone noticed this? That might be a reason for the lack of his production with the talent he does have.

It's not all bad though, there are a few things that make him a promising 4-3 DE. Like I said before the DL alignment doesn't work out the best for him, maybe since we have our guys a bit out more this may help him more than anything at the next level, an elite edge rusher. If he does gain a few more pounds and keeps that speed and the rest of his attributes at the same level or higher then he might grow into an everyday DE for us. Right now as is he's a pass rush specialist type, couldn't handle the run game very well. He does have the speed to go up against RB's and does very well in coverage against TE's. When not in on a rush he'll hover around and try to get hands on the ball, I love that. He batted down a few passes and affected a lot more by just knowing where to be. Even though he has all the attributes to just run around, he has very good awareness and knowledge of knowing where to be.

Bottomline: Even though I'm skeptical he can make the same amount or even a bigger impact than any of the other DE's in the class. He brings some versatility so we can mix up our defense a bit and either drop him back or let him rush. Has has a great frame so just adding a bit more muscle will do wonders for him, that's my main concern. He can be a DeMarcus Ware or a Aaron Maybin. Work on his technique, develop a move or two for better separation, and fill out. If we draft Mingo and doesn't get bigger then we're stuck with an OLB, it's up to the staff if he's worth the risk or not. I would pull the trigger.

Guys like this do well in the NFL. His description is very similar to Jevon Kease, Simeon Rice and Jason Pierre Paul to name a few. Though I do not see us going for a DE in the first. With Ayers being used as a DE on passing downs along with the improved play of Morgan DE is no longer as big a priority.

I love Mingo, everyone else is going to love him too after the combine.

I think he's a 4-3 LDE. His weight is going to be crucial for him, at 240lbs he's a linebacker, at 250+ he can be a DE. By the look of him, he's more than 240lbs.

He has an aray of pass rush moves, and is better vs the run than given credit for. His numbers this year were not as great as one would expect but he still creates pressure(Sounds like he'd fit right in). I like him as he's the type of player you have to worry about.

In the right scenario we could take him at 10, coud be BPA. Make no mistakes we need another quality DE on the roster. Of course it also depends on if we can take care of the SS and OG position in FA.

I would rather take a risk on Mingo than Richardson or Hankin

He's pretty much a full speed guy. He's does well on the edge but some of his technique would change with his hand in the dirt... Not sure that's going to happen. High talent guy that doesnt fit the scheme.

We will just have to call him Bark.

I watched a lot of LSU games last year and after watching him, I wouldn't mind him in Nashville. At one time he was projected to be the #1 overall pick. I think he slipped because LSU have big time talent on that DL and he just sorta blended in right with the rest of them.

That said, I think if he can get his weight up some, he will be someone that will demand a double team at the next level and could be a better "ball swatter" than JJ.

If we don't go Chance in the 1st and Star doesn't fall to 10 I would get behind this pick. We need another DE in the rotation that can pass rush and he could split time his rookie year then maybe the next become a full time starter.

Yea true... He could be there at 10 and would help the talent level. I don't think it would be the very best we could do, but it wouldn't hurt, the more and more I think about these top ten the less impressed I am
