    Here's what I see:

If we cut Amano, Hawkins, Hutchinson (retires), and Babs.. that's $12.19 million extra, for a total of $31.69 mil in cap space. That's a ton. I don't see us cutting Hasselbeck, Griffin, Otto, or CJ.

We may be able to rework Hasselbeck backs deal. $5.5 mil is a little high, I would even add another year to his deal, at like 2 mil. Making him has 2yr/7.5 mil remaining, so a total of 3.75m a year. He's 37, but he's just a backup and more of a coach for Locker than anything at this point.

I'd love to cut Griffin, but it's just not going to happen. Ruston totally screwed the pooch on that signing, terrible first signing dude.

So, with my realistic cuts, we'd have $31.69 avail cap room:

Andy Levitre - 5yr/25-30mil, around 5-6mil a year. Puts him in the right around the Top-10 highest paid guards (#10 makes 5.8m/yr on average). I believe he's well worth it, he'd be 31 when his deal ends. Basically, we'd be giving Hutchinsons money to Levitre.

Dom Rodgers-Cromartie - 5yr/48mil, around 9 mil a year. around the same deal that Jonathan Josepth got in 2011. Puts him around the Top-10 as well for highest paid corners. We'd now have 48 mil in DRC and 43 mil in McCourty. But, CB is extremely important in todays league.

    Depth at LB - 1-2mil, likely need a OLB & ILB - that's 2-4 mil.

Velasco resigning, 3yr/10mil (3.3 mil per)

After signing Levitre, DRC, 2 LBs, and resigning Velasco, we still have 9.39 million for rookie signings and additional depth. Pair that with a solid draft class. I'm dreaming Star falls to #10, take another guard with our 2nd. SS in the 3rd... and we could be looking at , do I dare say it...., playoffs

It's so unlikely though. I'd even be happy with getting Glenn Dorsey instead of DRC and taking Milliner 1st round.

If we have a ton of cap space it does not mean we are going to all of a sudden get better. Like Scarecrow said this isn't Madden. You cannot put a number next to a guy and know for 100% certainty he will be that good. You also cannot just jam a bunch of stars together and expect them to be good together. Washington tried that many times and it always backfired on them.

And what makes us think all these players are going to come here? Some would have to be overpaid to come here. So you want to cut one overpaid player and replace him with another. Guys we talk about signing this year we will be complaining about and wanting to cut 2 years from now. Getting trapped in a cycle of bad contracts is how bad pro sports teams stay bad year after year. It is a cycle we need to break not continue.

I do want to see the team go after free agents. Good players who fit and play positions we need to improve. But a wholesale overhaul replacing everyone with free agents is just a path to disaster.

You build a team through the draft, and use free agency to fill some holes.

Look at the 49ers for example, they drafted Kaepernick, Gore, Vernon, Crabtree, Staley, Upati, Davis, Bowman, Willis, Aldon Smith... and brough in Rogers, Whitney, Goldson, Justin Smith.

However, most of their 'stars' were brought in through the draft. They just got the few peices in free agency to put them over the edge, paired with a legit coach.

Problem is, without a legit coach, all the drafted talent goes to waste.

I'm gonna be pissed if we just sit on all this cap space. I don't want us to go out and spend it just to spend it but at the very least we need to use it to improve the OL and DL.

We must get atleast one starting guard
    Resign Velasco

At the very very very least

Then, we'd still be sitting on a ton of money. I just hope we cut Amano, can't stand him and how much he's making. We could really use any position.

our line was our biggest weakness last year, the only scenario where we cut Amano at this point is we land one of the big FA guards and plan on drafting Warmack/another guard, Amano will be here.

Plus if Hutch and Harris are gone, we need a guard. Amano can fill that hole

How awesome would it be if we could get both Louis Vasquez AND Andy Levitre in FA?

That would be money well spent plus would give us a ton of flexibility going into the draft.

What I for our interior OL is one FA, one high draft pick (first 3 rounds) and the third spot to be a competitiion between holdovers.

Do not sleep on Lutui either. He did pretty good considering he joined us mid way through the season. A full offseason and pre-season with the team and he could be good. Would like to see him in the mix for competition with Harris and Amano at one of the guard positions. At the very least he brought back some of the attitude and swagger we lost when Mawae left. Hutch was supposed to do that but didn't.

And I would love Levitre. Still though, he is not a make or break. He has been a starter since day 1 and a solid one. Never made a pro-bowl though. A Benji Olson type player. Strong but not elite. If we get another guard instead of Levitre it will not be the end of the world.
