this is truly a tough question.. you can pick any random 1st round pick we've had.. and pretty good chance they're going to be busts.

As far as locker.. I would call him a disappointment.. Bust just has VY written all over it.. Busting is what dynamite or a balloon does.. that's what VY did.

Locker has been a flop.. I know they're essentially the same thing.. but "bust" has a more aggressive overtone to it. Flop is the summary of Locker's career so far. Flacid and limp, like a wet sock.

yes. Defending his every move. He moved on very quickly once his nephew did. He was a good uncle. He was a much better uncle than Andre was a CB. He deserves that much credit. I'd be proud if my nephew were a high pick.. but just as embarassed when they end up terrible.

ok lets look at the big picture as a rookie jake locker looked great in relief duty. this year he gets jacked up trying to tackle someone and a few weeks later he takes a big shot and dislocates it again by the time hes back his o line is decimated so you got a guy whos going to need surgery on his non throwing shoulder which i mean im not qb never have been but thats gotta be important to the throwing motion so hes dealing with that and a bad line all year now ill be the first to say it was a disapointment this year but lets give jake at least another year to prove he will stay healthy and be good.

so the summary of his career so far is too young to tell anything

Yea a dislocated anything is going to hinder anyone's game. You ever try running with a shoulder injury? hurts the entire time..

if youre trying to manage pain, your not beating a defense, especially with a patch job O-Line.

I keep forgetting about that injury. That does inspire some hope.

I get what your saying and agree no doubt that VY set the franchise back because it was a wasted "franchise" pick. But I think people have a huge bias with this concept of "setting the franchise back". Just how does a wash-out set the franchise back other than simply being a wasted "franchise" pick?" VY tantrum didn't have any tangible long lasting effect- his lack of production on the field did. And it is a stretch to connect the two- at least one that is filled with bias. I think Jamarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf were bigger busts than VY because they didn't even make it to or through year 3 of their rookie contracts. Way bigger busts than VY IMO.

VY was a #3 overall franchise pick that initially looked very promising but his immaturity predominated, he failed to develop and he washed out. We wasted that high probability opportunity to get our "once in a decade" player. Locker was a #8 overall player intended to be our franchise QB, who hasn't contributed much if anything thus far. It doesn't matter WHY he washes out, but if he does, we also missed on a high probability opportunity to get our "once in a decade" player. The difference I see in VY and Locker if Locker does wash out is that at least VY produced SOMETHING during his first year(s). We are not really disagreeing becuase I'm saying something different- specifically what I'm saying is contingent on Locker washing out. Locker's intangbles may allow him to become an all-time great but I doubt it. I think his arm will never be accurate, his decision making tentative and each year makes his legs less of a threat.

I'm angry with MR/RW and Munch. I didn't want Locker. I wanted Watt. I was right and they were wrong. I didn't want Wright- I wanted DeCastro. I'm certain I'm biased against Locker. I just haven't seen ANYTHING from him that warrants a #8 overall pick.

Well, we lost a well established head coach because of Vince. I was not a huge Fisher fan during his last years, but I do think that he kept Vince off the field for a reason. Now we are going through an insane amount of coaching turnover because of it.

I don't consider Vince a bigger bust than Leaf or Russel. Those two are the reason the word is even used.

Locker is not going to be the cause of us changing coaches. I don't think he walked into the best situation with us, but I am still not sure he has what it takes.

I also think that the QB gets far too much credit for the success of the team. Young was bless with an amazing defense that kept games close and CJ in his prime. Locker walked into a team where he needs to put up 35 just to keep it close and an inconsistent running game. I am not saying that Locker could have beaten the Cards or Giants, but it is much easier when you are actually put in position to run a 2 minute drill.

I just think the only person close to being as big of a bust as Young is Pac-Man.

I wasn't biased against locker until I saw him play.

he looked terrible in relief duty his rookie year and made a boneheaded decision at the end of the Saints game to lose it for us. Im not saying VY didn't have to go, but in situations like that he always seemed to rise to the occasion.
