This is a great thread as there is no clear answer. So I thought I would give my opinion. I totally understand why VY would be considerd a bust. He was our highest draft pick ever and overall didnt workout. BUT, as many have said, he did randomly win games. If you look at the QB class that year, every QB in that class short of Jay Cutler could be considered a bust (and Culter hasn't turned out to be a Manning or Rodgers either). So under all the circumstances, we would never had taken Culter at #3, and if not VY, would have taken Matt Leinart who in many ways was an even bigger bust than VY. So while he was a bust in the end, I don't think we can say he was our BIGGEST bust as this thread is asking.

Like many have already said, I think our biggest bust has to be someone in the 1st round who never did anything for the team. Came and went like the wind without any memory he was here. Those kind of players set a team back because when you are using any #1 round pick you are losing out on many better options that were drafted around that bust as well as the ability to trade the same #1 round pick for a proven veteran. In stead, its used and wasted on a player who comes in and within two years he is totally off the team. What sense does that make when you could have done so much more with it? There is always lots of options and talent in the first round of players, so teams continue to be terrible when they arent used on production.

Clearly the Titans need to really think about who they pick before wasting it again. I looked it up, and since the '04 draft til now. Tell me of this list who you would still have drafted in the 1st round ( Andre Woolfolk. Adam (Pacman) Jones. Vince Young. Michael Griffin. Chris Johnson. Kenny Britt. Derrick Morgan. Jake Locker. Kendall Wright.)

So far, CJ and Wright are the only ones I think you can say were worth a true 1st round draft pick (and its too soon to say about Wright). Someone could make an argument for Griffin or Morgan, but neither to me has given what I consider to be that best of the draft type of play. Eric Widdle went 20 picks below Griffin in '07 draft and has been a Pro Bowl S ever since.

Think about this, if we had thought about it ahead of time, in '11. We could have taken JJ Watt, Nick Fairley, OR Robert Quinn with our 1st round and truly got 1st round value for them. Then traded up into the 2nd and grabbed Kaepernick. Hasselback could still have been QB until Kaepernick was ready. Now, I know that Ayers has seemed to workout as our 2nd round pick from that draft but which would you rather have Watt and Kaepernick OR Locker and Ayers. Clearly we made a mistake. And that also means Watt wouldnt be playing against us twice every year for the Texans. Watt's play would have made our entire Secondary better just like when Haynesworths was in his prime.

I believe after next year, we will know if Locker isnt the biggest bust ever when you see the talent we could have drafted in place of him. Completely different than the talent we missed in '06 with VY.

I agree. However, I'm comfortable saying "So far, ......Locker..." with the key being "so far". He hasn't shown us chit and the only positive I see in Locker is his attitude. Maybe that is enough to get to a "game manager" level but his arm sucks, his decision making has been VERY suspect and we haven't seen much from his legs.

How is it not a clear answer? How is Locker going to top the list outside of murdering someone?

Vince lost his job because he acted like an immature twat waffle. Not only was Vince taken earlier, but he had MUCH more hype and talent. He drove himself out of town and just because he had a handful of highlight plays does not make him any less of a bust. The position we are in now, is ALMOST directly because of Vince's immaturity.

Because Locker is a #10 pick and hasn't done chit during his first two years. Period.

VY at least was OROY and led some amazing comebacks (Giants in particular).

Locker can easily get off my radar next year if he performs worthy of a #10 pick or even shows the capacity to win a close game or cap off a comeback. But people aren't being objective to say Locker's performance thus far isn't more of a bust than VY's.

Say it this way- if Locker totally sucks next year and is cut- who would say that Locker's body of work as a Titans was greater than Vince's body of work? IMO- nobody could honestly say that.

That is why I say "So far...."

This may be petty, but Jake was the 8th pick, not 10th

Not petty- I don't know why I was thinking #10- maybe have pre-occupied with this year.

Yea but lets be real, who cares about OROY? Those awards are largely shams any.

I am not trying to stick up for Locker, because at this point, if everything plays out like I think it will, I think Locker will bust also. But its a pretty big line between not playing well, and throwing yearly tantrums like Vince did.

Stats wise? Probably fairly similar. He had two highlight reel comebacks and a very less than stellar record against winning teams that never gets mentioned. Ironic thats the first thing people bring up against Munch but for some reason Vince is immune to it.

But as far as setting back the franchise, being an black eye? No where close. Name two of the biggest busts of all time! Go!!!!!!

Taking a stab in the dark, but you thought of Leaf and Russel. What do they have in common with Young? Immaturity and hurting the franchise that drafted them.

Locker is NOT setting back the franchise through immature decisions, he has a great attitude and is not making us ashamed to be Titans fans. The guy does have a very wild arm, and I am not sure if he will ever control it. All I know, is that I would much rather go through these years with Locker than to ever go through what Vince put us through.
