What is wrong with "our LB's played well"? That's a pretty damn good reason. Don't fix something that isn't broke. Same for the ST's. Not that I even have an issue with Munch's firings- I touched on what the real reason I believe they were fired.

I think it is a bit disingenuous to suggest that people are pointing to those two moves as isolated reasons, separate from all the other many issues (O-line, OC, DC, unit performance, player dis-satisfaction etc). As others have suggested, fans are disgruntled with the cumulative body of decisions Munchak has made. These are simply more in that series and although particularly baffling, they are not the sole reason so many fans are past their limit.

Because you negate the fact that talented players can still play well, even if their coaches are subpar. I mentioned this earlier, drop Ayers into coverage and how good is he? Hes had 2 seasons, is it something he just cant do? Or does he need better coaching to recognize things?

SO our special teams were not broken and didnt do worse this season than last season? They were ranked 3rd last season, 19th this season. Thats an issue. Granted, the issue could also be talent but people complain about being mediocre, and we get rid of a mediocre coach. I dont see a problem with that.

Now if he hires Chet, and he bombs, THEN its a huge problem.

May have missed it, or forgotten. Probably the latter.

    Which thread, ill go reread

Im disgruntled, with the team as a whole. However I have not seen Munch do anything that stands out as "you are holding back our team and you suck Munch"

people have been, and are still completely disregarding the talent level of our team. Theres a reason why Billicheat sucked in Cleveland, but is a genius with the pats.

    Talent level.

Now I will 100% agree that our coordinators did not get the most out of our talent, even though we lack it.

I think a big misconception this year is how our ST did this year. Reynaud being greedy did plenty to drop us back to 19th. Its not really like we could bench him either. We have won countless games because of Lowry, I dare someone say we lost any because of him either.

So anyone who suggests that fumblitis falls on Lowry can just go ahead and STFU, because I know you are out there.

Many fans, including myself, didn't like the manner in which he was "handed" the job. I'm surprised more fans are upset especially when you consider the FO gaffes as we could have had both Harbaugh and Colin Kaepernick AND David DeCastro.

Waiting another year to get started on yet another re-build is unacceptable.

The reason I'm so confident Munchak will not guide the Titans anywhere is how he mishandled his area of expertise. He thought he could take mid-level talent and shape them into a decent O-line. That unit was abysmal even before the injuries.

He pinned himself to Jake Locker and didn't even give him a quality O-line. And to be honest, I didn't want Jake Locker either- but I did hold out hope for the past 2 years I was wrong on that one. This franchise is going nowhere with Munchak and Locker. (And even with our apparent easy-azz schedule next year, I don't hold any hope.)

In summary, there is just nothing special about this team. No unique situation, story-line, no passionate coach or players, few if any exceptionally talented players (?CJ) and a coach who more often appears confused than confident.

    Scarecrow, couldnt quote your post.

    You said

IMO I think we have a really talented team, outside of the lines. Which again, falls on Munch.

Where is the talent? linebackers? I agree with you there. half of the secondary SUCKS, thats something we all agree on. (the safeties) The pass rush is bad, except against crap teams.

Im about to make a post if i dont get sidetracked about Gray and how he does well against teams with equal or less talent level, but is worse against superior talent. I actually believe Gray could be a decent (not top) DC, if we had the talent that people think we have. Thing is, I dont think we do.

Also, many people will tell you that the game is won in the trenches, both offensive and defensive. You admit yourself that the lines are bad. Do you not believe that the trenches are one of, if not the most important aspect of a team besides the QB?

This. This. A thousand times, this.

It's clearly not working out under Munch and I'll be here to say "I told ya so" when he's inevitably fired in less than a year.

You don't always automatically deserve three years to get it together. I hate to say it, but look at the Jagrags with Mularkey. Canned his @$$ after only one year. Why? Because it was obvious he's a scrub HC and not the man to get the ship righted.

For some reason this franchise has this inexplicable, insane "buddy system" in place. Once you're in, you REALLY have to screw the pooch to find yourself kicked out. It's held us back for years and years, with no end in sight.

I have wanted rid of Lowry for years, many years.

Im going to dig to try to find more stats, then get back to you on this one.

I am not trying to say that Lowry is the Lombardi of ST coaching, but he is innovative and fields some solid squads without many players being brought in for the sole reason of playing ST.

I'm having a tough time following your reasoning. It seems you are saying that coaches should not be given credit for the performance of the unit they are responsible for because player talent is the reason. But then, you say that coaches should not be penalized for a unit when there is a "lack of talent". There is no direct accountability in such a system. It is all arbitrary depending upon who is assessing talent.

Folks are complaining because it makes NO sense to fire the coaches of the units that performed within reason while retaining a staff member who unit did not perform up to standard. It is the lack of apparent accountability with that system that is driving fans to declare Munchak incompetent. Couple all of that with the manner he was hired (not qualified) and his performance compared to other coaches in their second year and folks are past their limit.

Don't misunderstand me- I'd prefer the entire coaching staff be gone and we start fresh. I'd even prefer we fire Ruston Webster and start from scratch there as well. It will only be 2 years before we are at that point and honestly, I'm way past my point for tolerating another re-build. I'll support the Titans with my DirecTV package. I might buy a ticket every now and then but I'm done shelling out over $10k/year for season tix.
