    3 burning questions
    1. How good really is Alterraun Verner?
It’s a really tough question. All logic would indicate that he is best suited inside, but he did have a pretty sound year on the outside and continues to be the best tackler in our secondary. With him about to go into the final year of his contract, the Titans need to make their mind up in a hurry. With both Britt and Roos coming off contract next season as well, Franchise Tag won’t be an option if they want to keep Verner and they can’t afford to give him McCourty money. Chances are this may be his last season as a Titan. Which is a shame because I thought he clearly outplayed McCourty this season.

    2. Is the Tommie Campbell experiment already over?
It was always a wild card and he was a great story for a while, but he hasn’t been a consistent performer when he has played and he is clearly behind Sensabaugh on the depth chart now. He has great measurable, but I can’t see him ever progressing beyond #5 CB and ST player.

    3. Is Sensabaugh starter material?
He performed pretty well for a rookie after winning the nickleback job of Mouton mid-season. His man coverage skills are pretty good, however he did struggle to locate the ball in flight and as a result didn’t break up or pick off many passes. Hopefully he develops in this area as he progresses. He is virtually the same size as Verner, so may also be best suited inside long-term.

    Free Agency:
CB, like DE is a position that attracts incredibly large Free Agent deals that end up looking very ill-advised (McCourty fits that bill as well in my view). There are a number of guys available who will command huge contracts that I don’t see us playing in.
    Brent Grimes
    Cary Williams
    Leodis McKelvin
    Captain Munnerlyn
    Kelvin Hayden
    Terrence Newman
    Sheldon Brown
    Mike Jenkins
    Tracy Porter
    Chris Houston
    Brice McCain
    Darius Butler
    Derek Cox
    Reshean Mathis
    Sean Smith
    Jamarca Sanford
    Aqib Talib
    Kyle Arrington
    Ron Bartell
    Joselio Hanson
    Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
    Will Allen
    Antoine Cason
    Quentin Jammer
    Cedric Griffin

Possible Cap Casualties (cap hit for 2013 in parentheses):
    Nnamdi Asomugha ($15m)
    Corey Webster ($9.9m)

    Potential Draft Targets:

A CB at #10 (Milliner) is certainly not out of the question. Judging by past history, picking a CB at some stage of the draft is almost a certainty.

    Dee Milliner, Alabama
    Xavier Rhodes, Florida State
    Jonathan Banks, Mississippi State
    David Amerson, NC State
    Tharold Simon, LSU
    Bidi Wreh-Wilson, Connecticut
    Marc Anthony, California

    Summary
I think 3 of our top-4 CBs are already on our roster. McCourty, Verner and Sensabaugh are a good base. The question is do we add a 4th CB at the back end of that group, or a stud at the top end. There is no doubt our defense would benefit immensely from having a #1CB that is a man-coverage specialist and physical enough to match up with #1 receivers. McCourty isn’t that. He is a good solid starter, but he gives up too much cushion at times and is not strong at all in press coverage. Finnegan was exactly that, but with a 2013 cap hit of $15m, was unaffordable. Paying top dollar for a guy like that in Free Agency (e.g. Sean Smith) is a massive investment and I expect us to concentrate on the draft to try and secure a high calibre CB.

    My take
Milliner is certainly in the frame to be our #1 pick, but I think at the end of the day, we target one of the lineman instead. I wouldn’t expect us to wait too long to address CB, however. We actually ranked pretty well at getting pressure on the QB this season, so our secondary needs to make plays with the ball in the air and they didn’t make enough of them this season. Obviously we have a massive issue at Safety, but a lockdown corner that doesn’t need safety help all the time can make the whole defense better. I think the Titans will draft a bigger CB in the 2nd or 3rd round like Amerson, Simon or Wreh-Wilson and hope to hit a home run.

Would like a fa cb capable if the #2 spot. Moving vern to nb. Would rather not use a pick on a corner, we already have two young guys TC and Coty.

I wouldn't be against going with Milliner as I used to be, after Warmack or a defensive lineman he's next on the guys I want. I would say Te'o but just get the feeling we're sticking with McCarthy.

The Campbell experiment is over, we know who he is now. If Coty has the same size as Verner he may just end up replacing him on the inside. Either way, this year or next, we're going to have to get another starting CB. Just depends on if Verner is gone or playing inside.

I don't think Coty is built to play inside, he's a finesse player. He'd rather run along side than to have to thump you, he might get beat up inside.

He did improve as the year went on, so I'm cautiously optimistic about Coty.

Man based on the number of throws to him and completions vs mccourtys numbers... The thing that comes heavy off the screen are their overall yards given. Verner was 556. McCourty was 800.... On the other side, McCourty did grade better than Verner. But those yards do bug me.

If McCourty is better overall CB... It's not by a whole lot. And Verner will get an extension. With the extra cap money, I just don't see how we don't extend him. We really need another corner tho.

I'll be disappointed if we let Verner go, he's possibly the most overlooked player in all of the NFL.

Definitely a guy we should try to keep.

How do you guys feel about Quentin Jammer? He's 33 (one year younger than Champ). Would likely be able to get him for cheap. Could play #2 CB, allowing Verner to play NB. Would bring a vet to this defense, would have tips i'm sure for all our other CBs. Sign him on a 2yr deal.
