I'll be absolutely stunned if the Titans go after an expensive, big-name WR in free agency. I'll be equally stunned if any of those WRs want to play in Tennessee.

No need to give Britt a new deal now. Make him play out the year and earn it. Even if he plays lights-out, the Titans could probably still lock him up for a relatively cheap price because of his legal troubles -- I think most other teams would be scared off him.

So you think he will be another:

We should do what we did with him. Franchise him so he will have another contract year.

The other part of that pattern, fortunately, is that we will then spend the next off-season hotly debating whether or not the FO should pay him; and then when we see the absurd contract he gets from some other team we will all generally agree we were right not to match or top it.

    See also Travis Henry.

get real, if Britt had a 1400/1500 yard 80 catch season he will get some big bucks. all his baggage has been fairly minor compared to some of the other receivers out there. he would get paid somewhere. britts problems were injuries and legal trouble, not showing up fat.

During training camp of Kenny's second year he was on the side lines for several games because he wasn't in shape to play. That was also during his legal issues. He told the press he didn't know that he had to continue to work out throughout the off season.

Henry was released by the Titans and also was a RB so the situations aren't exactly the same of course.

All this is hypothetical. Say Britt stays healthy, does have that 80 catch 1400 yard season and actually does not get into any more trouble. You have to judge him based on what he is at that point. He played this year one year removed from a bad knee injury. Adrian Peterson aside that does effect players and Morgan was one of those who was also slowed his first year back from a knee.

If Britt produces, stays healthy and has a good reocrd and attitude we would have to consider bring him back but at the same time you weigh his value with any other FAs out there at the time. Maybe at that point we would spend money on another player we think is a better value. Either way we just have to let the next season play through and see were we are. I certainly wouldn't go bonkers and start signing guys now or using early picks on a WR (unless the value is off the charts).

Also for every poor FA signed there are good signings. Take Vincent Jackson for example. He had some baggage and yet I thought when the Bucs signed him he was a real good signing. Those kind of guys (which Britt could be) are more important now in the NFL than ever. Jackson had 72 catches for almost 1400 yards. If Britt puts up that kind of season there wiill be many fans who will change there tune about him.

If he has an 80 catch 1500 yard season, hell Id want him back.

I dont like the guy but as already said, producing it what matters next year.

Bleacher Report July 1, 2010 has all the details, I am unable to upload a link. After he came in out of shape he popped a hammy amd only played in 12 games.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for Britt to get his *** stuff together and become the player, leader, and father that we all believe he can be. I am just citing history.
