This is kind of where I'm coming from. I'll take a "circus" or a "buffoon" in exchange for a competent defense any day of the week. I'm just sick of getting blown up every Sunday.

But I guess let's just stick with the typical Titans M.O. and just "hope" things magically fix themselves.

I'd take him over Gray. Would not call him a Fisher boy either. He was a Fisher boy 10 years ago. Chuck Cecil is a Fisher boy. Williams has gone way too long to be considered that. He has a Super Bowl under his belt. Probably had more to do with that Super Bowl win than Sean Peyton. Jeff Fisher certainly had nothing to do with that Super Bowl. Despite his mistakes he has grown a lot as a coach in the 10 years since he left us. And I cannot see him pulling any funny stuff. He will be watched too closely.

And I get the feeling Sean Peyton and the 'Aints tried to scapegoat Williams and put it all on him.

Biggest concern with Williams, if he is reinstated, would players follow him? I think a lot of players lost respect for him not only because of his methods, but also because of how he handled the league investigation.

Gray showed he can do well, against lesser opponents. Maybe more talent will translate into a better defense as a whole and be able to play against the better teams.

    Coach vs talent.who knows.

The more I think on it the more I like the idea of Greg Williams. We often argue on here about 4-3 vs 3-4. Perhaps the hybrid D Williams employed with the Saints would work well for us. That way we can make the most of players like Ayers and Wimbley while not having to sacrifice guys like Martin, Casey, Morgan and Brown who are unsuited to the 3-4.

Saying he did well against lesser opponents isn't really saying much. Any coach in the league should be able to do well against lesser opponents. That's why they're lesser opponents.

But honestly, I think it's both (coach and talent). We definitely need more talent but Gray's scheme is a big part of the problem as well. He was hardly putting the players in a position to be successful (e.g. lining our DBs up 10 yards off the LOS).

I'm just constantly amazed at how low the standard is to keep your job within this organization.
