That's rubbish. McCoy was rumoured as a head coach candidate last season before Manning even went to the Broncos. He had 8 years with Carolina and when Fox went to Denver he was one of the first guys he hired to take with him.

12 months ago, he was designing an offense to work with Tebow at QB and helped them win a playoff game against the Steelers. And this year, he has re-tooled that offense for Manning.

I have no idea if he will be a good head coach or not, but the job McCoy, Dennis Allen and now Jack Del Rio have done in Denver turning that team around goes much deeper than just signing Peyton.

Oh of course not. I am looking for the best possible outcome since they seem hell bent on making this kid the OC. At least give him a mentor.

Mike McCoy was not a HC candidate because of the way he coached up Jake Delomme, Matt Moore and Jimmy Clausen was he?

If Manning goes some place else Mike McCoy is not a HC candidate this year.

I hear ya. Though I would hope Mike McCoy is an HC candidate based on the fact he was able to coach Kyle Orton to career years and was able to get an offense built around Tim Tebow to the playoffs.

Loggains failed in the most basic way possible in that he can't even call the right play. His play calling was ridiculously horrid. Also, I've yet to see Locker roll out. Sprint out running into a TE or getting to the sidelines so fast he can't in a million years make a throw and those are design problems.

We need to stop making this out to be some kind of voodoo or rocket science. First of all Locker couldn't be any more damaged than he already is since Palmer was so bad he gets fired and then it gets worse. Locker had promise until Palmer left. Then the real genius stepped in. Sure we had some OL issues but we have had those for two years. This is a team that can't run a good screen play. Offense isn't about being super smart it is about execution. You could take the Patriots playbook, insert it and be successful if you execute the dang plays. Want to see how a screen to a WR like Welker/Wright should be run. Watch the Patriots and it isn't that you need Tom Brady at QB to pull it off. We need to toss all these guys to the curb and start over on offense. Locker will need a bottle and some special coddling from Munch but he will get through the rough time of missing Palmer and Loggains lousy design and play calling.

Now as for Moore stepping in why not? Rolltide can say Manning was the reason for his success but the Colts executed plays to perfection. They didn't have guys running wrong routes, even rookies, and they didn't worry about baffling anyone with 100 formations. They basically lined up in the same formation every play. The only exception was if Clark was inline with his hand down or not. Sure Manning was brilliant but he read the defense and knew were his receivers were going to be. It is called execution with consistency. Locker basically regressed when Palmer left so no way I want some clueless kid taking over now. I'd much rather go with the old guy who has a clue.

As for the Mike Tice plug ... oh really? Fair or not Tice is part of the reason Smith was fired. The Bears could never click with their execution either and I assume since they couldn't get it done with Marshall on the team it wasn't going to happen. As a Bear fan I wonder were the young kid who used throw the ball around the stadium at Vanderbilt and in Denver went.

But IMO right now we could entertain quite a few former OL coaches or whatever that would be a step in the right direction. Anything is going to top what we have now and I'd keep Gray as the DC way before I'd keep Loggains as the OC.

Maybe not as DC although who's to say he won't be on the list of HC candidates if Munchak gets canned after next year?

So explain to me how McCoy got interviews with Oakland and Miami for their Head Coaching roles last off-season, before Manning had even joined the Broncos?

Ok so Jerry gray is a great DC then because he has gotten interviews also. Josh McDaniels was the Mike McCoy of a few years ago. How did that work out? Tom Brady made him a genius.

I never made any representation or statement as to whether or not McCoy is a good coach. He may work great somewhere else, or maybe he won't.

You made the statement that "If Manning goes someplace else than McCoy is not a head coaching candidate this year".

    That is absolutely incorrect.

He was a head coaching candidate before he was coaching Manning and his work this year has only served to make him a more attractive candidate.

Acting like his only claim to fame is coaching Manning is ignorant.

Same goes with Tom Moore. Yes, he is most well known for spending 10 years as Manning's OC, but before that he was OC in Detroit when they had a very high-powered offense in the mid-90's and for most of the 80's was OC for the Steelers.

I don't doubt his reputation has benefited from working with Manning, but that doesn't mean he is some scrub that has spent most of his time collecting trolleys at Wal-Mart.

I'm okay with where we're at in the OC department. I agree with everything TitanJeff said but we're going to have problems if Gray comes back. He doesn't have any excuses or bad luck, everything wrong with the defense is a reflection of Gray.
