I think if we had Ayers in a 43 then Jones would fit as well.

Trading down isn't a bad idea, especially this year but I'm so sick of drafting in the middle of the rounds and only picking up solid players. I've been saying this for years now that what we're missing the most is a game changer on defense. Someone the offense has to prepare for, someone that can come in and set a new tone to the team, and a guy that can make big play after big play when needed.

The 49ers have well...pick one, the Ravens have Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, the Texans have Watt, the Packers have Matthews, the Seahawks don't really have a main guy but they've invested a lot into that young defense and it pays off with Irvin and Thomas, and now even the Patriots have Hightower who is becoming the leader of that defense.

We have...who exactly? Colin McCarthy? No disrespect to him but after all the hype we gave him last year I was expecting a better return but instead once again we're hit with injury concerns and inconsistent play. Maybe year 3 he brings it all together but I can't trust him to be our franchise guy when he's spending half the season on the sideline. Ayers has stepped up big time and looks like he's suited for DE and Brown has a ton of potential, a good and capable DC could get that out of him.

I'm officially jumping on the Jarvis Jones bandwagon. We're lucky that there is a lot of depth at the positions we need like S and interior OL. Also a lot of quality free agents as well, this year I'm hoping for that guy that can come in and give our defense an identity.

That's stupid. Game changers aren't always drafted in the Top-10 you know.

Troy Polamalu, Dwight Freeny, Ed Reed, Casey Hampton, Keith Bulluck, Charles Tillman, Rashean Mathis, Nnamdi Asomuga, Lance Briggs, Vince Wilfork, Darnell Dockett, DeMarcus Ware, Haloti Ngata, Tamba Hali, Patrick Willis, Darrell Revis, Jon Beason, LaMarr Woodley, Brian Orakpo, Brian Cushing, Clay Matthews, Jairus Byrd, Earl Thomas, Jason Pierre-Paul, and JJ Watt.. just to name a few awesome defenders.

Just because you draft them early doesn't mean they'll be legit. It's all about their work ethic, commitent to the game, physical abilites, and coaching staff.

I know but who exactly have we drafted? We're going to have a top 5 pick and a chance to do it, pull the trigger.

While I think we desperately need DL and CB and Safeties, Manti Teo is absolutely the way to go. Teo has consistently produced through his career and has shown no signs of injury concerns. He appears to be a player who we can highly expect to perform well for many years.

However, if he does not fall then I think we have the option to improve the offensive line. I think Joeckel is a solid selection and value albeit an unpopular pick. Warmack is an absolute need at gaurd but many will argue that it would be too soon to draft a gaurd. Trading down would be a possibility.

Secondary can be improved in rounds 2-4.

Chris Johnson is still a great player and there is no need to replace him. He is accountable, dependable, and explosive. I think it is the same caliber mistake to lose Johnson as it was to lose Finnegan.

It's not time to cut bait on CJ but we need to get somekind of plan B if he continues to struggle.

I'm still wanting to trade back for a duo of Matt Elam and Barrett Jones.

Barrett starts center. Velasco to guard and Hutch on the other side. Also need to pickup a late round guard to start year 2 once Hutch is gone.

    1st: Barrett Jones
    2nd: Matt Elam
    2nd: DE/DT
    3rd: DE/DT/S/OG/RB/CB
    4th: DE/DT/S/OG/RB/CB
    4th: DE/DT/S/OG/RB/CB <-- finnys comp

That's what I want to see

favorite scenario if we don't go Jarvis Jones/Te'o

I love Elam and Jones is going to be a very good and dependable lineman for over a decade

I honestly think we should take Chance Warmack or Manti Te'o with the pick. Warmack will be a pro bowl guard for many many years. The only pass rusher I think that is worth taking would be Moore from Texas A&M. No way Jarvis Jones falls to Tennessee he will go top 3.

yeah, but Ayers can't cover...that's why he's been playing more DE...Maybe Jones wouldn't have that problem, but like I said, just a concern...
