Run the numbers and look and see who is out there and tell me what 2 guys can replace CJ in our lineup.

Yes what 2 guys because CJ never gets hurt he is always out there and some of the backs we might bring in to replace him are not that reliable.

Pierre Thomas will probably be on the trading block. He is 27 and will make an average salary of $2.3M a year for the next 3 years. The saints don't need him they have 2 younger backs so you can get him for a 3rd rd pick maybe a 4th. I like him but he is not a guy who carries the whole load, you need another comparable back to rotate him with.

Felix Jones will be a free agent but he gets hurt just looking at a tackler and might not have anything in the tank worth bothering with. You want him?

Again i just don't see the value in trading a guy who we already have under contract who is one of the top 10 players at his position and who you can't replace even with 2 other guys.

The only problem is we dont have a qb that can make us a pass first team. If we were a pass first team with Locker right now it would be even more ugly then it already is!

I'd like to see us bring in a Rookie Roll-Tide, as well as an FA/Trade RB.. Pierre Thomas, Ivory, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis, Shonn Greene. Then draft a 3rd-4th round RB: Stepfan Taylor is my favorite.

So what are you saying? That Jake Locker isn't as good as we hope he is? And that he's Mark Sanchez and Christian Ponder? Is that what I'm hearing?

I mean I don't blame you for thinking that if that's what you think, but since you always dance around what you're saying, IDK what to believe.

Yes I believe that he is a little better than sanchez, and thats iffy b/c sanchez has no weapons, but not better than ponder!

Obviously Ivory would not be available if they trade Thomas. They will just tender Ivory as a RFA.

Some of the names you mentioned are totally unreliable players who have done nothing for 2 years. Replace CJ with them?

So get a 2nd rd pick for CJ, use a 3rd for thomas and use our 4th to draft a RB who may end up being a waste? Surely you must see how ridiculous that would be. Just keep the top 10 RB we already have for crying out loud.

    Regarding CJ's contract.

His contract is an incentive to keep him not get rid of him!

$20M in SB. To pay that and get rid of him in just 2 years is like flushing $10M down the toilet. We made that investment so we could have him for the rest of his productive career.

His $9M in salary next year is hardly excessive he is making $8M this year. We have Wrs getting 50% more than that.

My plan is to sign Chris Ivory (they already have RBs and don't need Ivory, unlikely he gets tendered) & then draft Stepfan Taylor (in the 3rd, which we may have two thanks to a comp pick from Finny). That saves us a ton of money, somewhere around 9mil per i'd say. Enough to go sign J. Byrd and an OG.

Yea but even CJ has said it, that signing bonus was retroactive. That was his number he wanted to make back after all those years of playing for nothing.

You're stretching that money out into future years (as you should), but CJ is going backwards and wanting new money going forwards.

The moment he has another big year, he'll hold out.

Hm, well, i guess we should fo go over his usual style of play.

CJ is the type of back who gets shut down constantly but is a homerun threat.
    vs
    Random bback who is consitant.

    Paired with Checkdown Charlie.
6 drives, 20 Carries, all drives start at the 20.

CJ is shut down his first 19 carries for 40 yards, 5 drives stall. 6th drive CJ breaks an 80 yard TD run.

Random consistant back rushes 20 times for 60 yards 3-4 drives end in FGs(because his mediocre play helped exend drives) 2-3 drives stall.

    STATS

    CJ- 120 yards, 6 YPC, 1 TD

    RCB- 60 yards, 3 YPC, 0 TD

Better day for back? C J

Better day for team? RCB's, 7<9-12

Its a silly example, except for all those times this generally happened. 8-12 million my fanny.
