The romance is hardly dominating that show.
Sons of Anarchy compacts the action and circumstance to the point of irrelevance, jading its watchers to it. Oh boy, some black dudes took a shot at Jax again, big woop..
There are plenty of Zombie movies out there that solely concentrate on action and gore. In fact there are hours and hours of character-free all-zombie-carnage highlights on YouTube. If that's all you want why bother watching the show at all..
It is these stretches that make the denser episodes more precious.. That's how it works. If the show was just not stop explosions, carnage and gore the show would be lame.

I enjoyed the episode. I felt it gave further insight into the newer characters and their relationship to the "regulars".

Up until now... we've not really gotten much of Merle. A few action sequences, but in this episode he interrogated Glenn and showed his "true colors" on his feelings about when he was last seen by the survivors. I also cemented the thought of how it will be when he and Daryl meet up. Some were arguing whether Daryl would join Merle or Merle would rejoin Daryl and the group. Well, after what he did to Glenn... there's no way he can join the group now. I can see it going one or two ways: Merle is killed - by Daryl or someone else in the group - or Daryl leaves the group. I doubt that second one, though...

I enjoy watching Michonne's observing of everything. That interraction in the hermit's house seemed pretty unnecessary... but I thought it put to light the vast difference between Rick and Michonne. Two Alphas. Rick tried to hold the guy... Michonne didn't hesitate and killed him. I have a hard time believing two Alphas can exist in the group.

Andrea is getting so close to the Governor, that I wonder where her allegiance will be when the groups meet.

We got to see Carl becoming more of a man... so far from the little kid in the first season. Rick hesitated when Michonne was at the fence but Carl acted - which caused Rick to act.

We got more of an inside look at the Governor... what a dick move he did to Maggie. I was just hoping it wouldn't go further than that. It didn't cross THAT line... but this episode made me go from undecided about the Governor to simply not liking him.

I enjoyed this episode... it's a great build-up to the mid-season finale, in my opinion.

i don't think that is true at all. Plenty of people have called out the last two season's of Dexter since they were both pretty poor. But it is nice to see Dexter improve to it's old quality.

Agree 100%. I understand people have different tastes as to what they feel makes a good show but the whole week after week of saying it sucked is blowing my mind. I can't figure out how you could be a fan of the show and come away with the "it sucked" feeling. I have not once ever come close to feeling that.

I do understand some people saying some of them have been a little slow or calling them just "filler" episodes but guess what thats how you tell a good story. It seems like if some of you had your way the season could be completed in 4 episodes.
    Ep 1: Show prison
    Ep 2: Show Woodbury
Ep 3: Group finds out about Woodbury
Ep 4: Group vs Woodbury battle. The end see you in 11 months.

Thats how you make a video game, not a record breaking TV series.

I thought episode 2 was mostly boring filler. I thought last nights was pretty gripping. The test on the old guy was interesting. The zombie and chairbound Glenn scene was exciting. The Maggie degradation scene got the point across very vividly and sadistically. We got to see how bad Merle really was as well in the ep.

Michonne is still a fairly bad actress... But she's supposed to be playing the tough guy role, so I get it. She's not a deep character at this point. Actress does not have much room to work in this context.

Anyone miss Lori yet? Didn't think so.

And after season 2, there is no serious complaints from me. Can't get much slower than that. Could have fit all of season 2 into half a season easily. Season 3 has been epic.

It's funny how T Dizzle is a main talking point in the series now, when before he died, he was a worthless POS in every episode but 1 or 2.

What are you talking about? T-Dog was the best helper there was. No matter what Rick or Shane wanted him to do, he would always agree without uttering a word.
