I was watching some tape from Ohio the other day and John Simon has seriously become my favorite DE in this draft class. He may not have elite speed but he has an almost KVB motor.

Simon is a monster. Let's get his high school buddy Michael Zordich (Penn State fullback) as a late round pick/UDFA, too. The intensity and effort are unreal.

I can't find anything on him 2012, but please tell me he has improved from 2011.

What I like about the kid like you guys mention he has a very high motor and doesn't give up on plays. What I don't like is his explosion he is the last one off the ball almost every single play, and has a lack of pass moves (he tries a spin move every other play).

I think that is somewhat by design. Wisky lineman are huge and they do a lot of pulls and counter stuff, so you try to read the play before you get engaged.

...or he could just lack explosion. I just know that guys from Penn State that typically explode off the ball did the same thing. ...and were criticized for it by fans/mock draft guys.

I noticed that towards the end of the video it did look more like a read and react defense scheme for that game. However, the first step was still slow, and the lack of rush moves was evident. I'm not knocking the guy if he made improvements from that tape, he could be a very good player with his motor.

This is the second video of him, the Wisconsin game scheme effected his game I think. He shows must more explosion in this game, just a lack of rush moves likes the spin move a little to much.

That's fair. He gets a lot of TFL's, but truthfully, I've always noticed him more for his leadership than his play.

I assume he is more of a mid-round guy.

Yeah, I'd love him as a 3rd round pick.
