When Titans coaches evaluate the season’s first 10 games during this bye week, one area they’ll pay particular attention to is the role of wide receiver Kenny Britt.

It’s been a frustrating season for Britt in many respects, as he’s worked to recover from three knee surgeries and a nagging ankle injury.

He’s played in the last six games, but hasn’t been the big playmaking threat he had been in previous seasons. Britt is averaging 11.6 yards per catch on his 27 receptions this year, a figure well below the averages of his first three years – which were 16.7, 18.5 and 17.0.

“I think that’s something we’ll get a chance to look more at this week as coaches, to kind of see if we’re using (Britt) the right way,” Titans coach Mike Munchak said. “We’re already watching his reps as far as in the games so we’re not overworking him. Because he has different soreness every week that he’s been playing through and practicing through.

“He hasn’t missed any practices, and he takes every rep we give him. We kind of have to push him off the field. He wants to do more and more and more. So I think it’s something we’ll look at to see if we’re using him the best way he possibly can.”

Britt made a couple of important third-down catches on the Titans’ opening drive of the second half on Sunday, picking up first downs on an eight-yard slant and a 28-yard toss down the middle.

But despite being targeted four other times, Britt didn’t record any other catches. He dropped a third-down pass in the first quarter, though Jake Locker produced a first down on a fourth-down scramble one play later.

“He made some very important plays that kept drives going and he’s been doing that for us every week,” Munchak said of Britt. “He had the one drop and that’s stuff he has to continue to work on. (But) we’re happy he’s out there. With him out there we’re a better football team and we just have to keep finding ways to use him.”

Better send someone home with Kenny to keep an eye on him through the Bye Week. I smell potential trouble if he's headed to Jersey.

Because Hasselbeck was throwing him the ball. Which means the ball couldn't of traveled more than 5 yards in the air.

I don't think they are really comfortable sending deep very often.

I think he is taking a role similar to Cook. Just a big bodied guy to push some guys around. Hopefully after the bye they are comfortable enough to see some big gains again.

This is basically a warm-up season for Britt... and overall, I can't complain since he hasn't been missing games the way I expected.

By next season, he should be a beast again. If not he will be playing elsewhere in 2014.

Britt is just not fighting for the ball anymore. He should be unstoppable on slants.

They need to put Kenny in front of the jugs machine all week and shoot balls at him. He has completely forgotten how to catch. Before anything else, he needs to learn to catch again.
