Here are a few snap-count tidbits of interest from the Titans’ 51-20 loss to Chicago on Sunday:

    • Days after making a trade request because he was unhappy with his role in the offense, tight end Jared Cook was on the field for 35 of the Titans’ 57 offensive snaps (61 %). A week ago, he’d been on the field for just 25 of 59 snaps against Indianapolis, but the Titans were in running mode for much of the Colts’ contest. Cook was targeted five times, but caught just two passes for six yards. He fumbled away one of those receptions.
    • Rookie linebacker Zach Brown continued to see his responsibilities increase, as he was on the field for 67 of the Titans’ 69 defensive snaps – marking the second straight week he’d set a season high for snaps. Brown responded by leading the Titans with 10 tackles (including two tackles for loss) and adding a fumble recovery.
    • Despite suffering an injury in the second half of the game, safety Al Afalava was on the field for a season-high 36 of the Titans’ 69 defensive snaps – three more snaps than starter Jordan Babineaux (33 snaps). Speaking of safeties, Robert Johnson, who began the year as a starter, was on the field for just one play against Chicago.
    • Instead of going with their customary rotation at defensive tackle, the Titans went almost exclusively with Jurrell Casey and Sen’Derrick Marks against the Bears. Casey played 66 of 69 snaps and Marks 59 of 69, while rookie Mike Martin got just eight snaps and Karl Klug got just four snaps.
    • Rookie cornerback Coty Sensabaugh took over as the Titans’ nickel back on Sunday, and that was reflected in the snaps. Sensabaugh was on the field for 31 of 69 defensive snaps, while Ryan Mouton, who’d previously served as the nickel corner, got just eight snaps.

    Babineaux is terrible.

How did Senabaugh do? Stopped watching at half-time...

Terrible. But I'm sure someone on this board will over hype him like he's a young talent or something.

He was excellent. It was like Ronnie Lott and Rod Woodson had a love child.

We should probably reduce his snaps then.

At least Brown is shutting up the allergic to tackling criticism.

I can't be the only one mildly upset that here it is mid season, and we have a few positions where people have not locked down there spot yet.

kills me that verner is not playing the slot which is his best postion and campbell not playing corner. Ayers is a pass rusher not a lb better suited for the 3-4. We do not know what to do with the rookie M.Martin at safety because they have only seen him on tape.

Coach he cannot be any worse than the safeties we keep throwing out there each week make him active at the least he is a rookie and we can make excuses for him. If we must suck can we do it in new ways?
