Middle linebacker Colin McCarthy (ankle) and defensive tackle Jurrell Casey (shoulder) sat out practice for a second straight day on Thursday. Coach Mike Munchak sounded optimistic about Casey practicing on Friday, but he seemed to waver when talking about McCarthy’s chances of playing Sunday at Buffalo.

“I’m optimistic he’ll be able to play, just a matter of to what level,” Munchak said. “But again, it’s just one of those things where you get to the point you have to make a decision. Can he play good enough to help us win the football game? And if he doesn’t, then obviously we don’t put him out there.

“We knew this was going to be a week-to-week thing for a while. That’s where we’re at really, kind of waiting to see how he does … We knew after the (Pittsburgh) game it would be harder than after the (Minnesota game). It’s just kind of getting over the hump and he’s not really there yet.”

Munchak said if McCarthy can’t practice on Friday, his chances of playing Sunday would be “a lot less likely.”

Also not practicing on Thursday: cornerback Tommie Campbell (ankle), running back Javon Ringer (knee) and guard Steve Hutchinson (rest day). Quarterback Jake Locker (shoulder) was limited. Linebacker Zach Brown returned after missing Wednesday because of illness.

And people complain about Locker being hurt. :irked:

This guys a Linebacker, hes supposed to show no fear, no weakness and be the intimidator on defense... but his widdle ankle is hurted coach. Put some tape on it and man up.

McCarthy is our defensive version of Britt (without the off-field issues). Sucks to say that, but I believe it is true.

Player falls in draft for injury concerns ------> Fans love him when healthy ---> Injury Woes resurface----->Brittle nicknames created------>Fans upset he doesn't play = Fans then understand why he fell so much.

I love how fans that have no idea what the deal is with a players injury feel like they don't seem moronic when acting like they do. lol

Some of you people must be crazy. Do you know how hard it is to play on a badly sprained ankle? Must not or you wouldnt be posting some of these stupid comments.
