Here's my breakdown of CJ's runs yesterday:

    1. On his first carry, he had a lot of room down the left sideline but could not make the CB miss. Gain of 4. It should have been much more.

    2. Good inside run for 4.

    3. Best run he's had this season. He looked stopped at the LOS and found a seam going for 10. It looked like it could have gone for much more.

    4. End around where Washington whiffs. Not CJ's fault.

    5. Inside run for 3. Not much there.

    6. Bounced it outside for a 11-yard gain.

    7. No space to run inside. 1-yard gain.

    8. Inside run for 3.

    9. Swing pass right which never had a chance. -3.

    10. Inside run. No room. 1 yard.

    11. With the fullback in, nice run for 8. Lion LBs were filling the gaps so using the FB more may have paid off.

    12. The beginning of the 4th quarter, the safety crept up at the snap and happened to be in the hole to meet CJ. -1

    13. OT toss right. CJ reverses and KVB stays home. CJ can't get past him. -8.

    14. Toss where CJ is met in the backfield. Tries to break free of the "facemask/jersey grab" and ends up losing 8.

I've been critical of both CJ and this OL and felt, overall, both had a much better game this week. Two years ago, I think CJ takes the first run for 20+. He had a few nice carries but tried to do too much and gave up too many yards. It's baffling why the Titans didn't use the FB more. I suspect it had to do with Locker's success out of the gun. The OL was hit and miss but did a pretty nice job against a good DL. It's hard to tell much with just 15 carries.

Remember when people made the argument that all Chris Johnson needed was a mobile QB to be successful again? So much for that. Chris Johnson sucks.

Based on his response in evaluating the Titans running game, Mike Munchak is clearly a glass half-full kind of guy.

At the end of Sunday’s loss to Detroit, running back Chris Johnson had carried 14 times for 24 yards. But Munchak said he did find reason to be more encouraged about the run game than in the first two weeks, based primarily on three double-digit runs by Johnson.

“On the first third-down run, he a got an (11-yard run), so we were productive there, early in the game,” Munchak said. “The first couple of runs were like 4 yards, 4 yards and 12, and he had a couple of other runs of 11 and 10.”

Johnson actually had a line of 11 carries for 41 yards before he lost a combined 17 yards on his final three carries. On each of his last two carries – both in overtime – Johnson lost eight yards, putting the Titans in second-and-18 holes.

Johnson also had a seven-yard loss in the second quarter.

“Probably the last (negative yardage) run was the only one he didn’t run well,” Munchak said. “When he probably should have just taken the one yard and given us second-and-nine, instead of the loss.

“A couple (losses) were trick plays, the handback play where we lost seven. We lost six on one doing the same thing. A receiver missed a block at the point of attack on a crack play, which was unfortunate. But a lot of that – three of those runs – didn’t really have anything to do with Chris.”

I think they meant to write " At the end of Sunday’s win against Detroit"

I also wish Munch had been my school teacher, I might have made better grades.

look again right before they stop the replay on the left side of your tv screen when he gets turned around. You can see part of his hand on the facemask. If he didnt grab it at first he grabbed it then!

I did not get to see the game on Sunday, but read the posts yesterday slamming CJ again for his running. I was able to watch the game last night and I honestly was surprised to see that CJ did better than expected. People were giving CJ crap for cutting back the one run in OT, but it obviously was a designed play that just didn't work and Munch said so. Several other designed plays were failures and they weren't CJs fault. I really thought CJ showed more desire in his running style this week. I have not given up all hope on the run. I think that Palmer is going to find the right mix of pass run and keep teams off balance.

I do question whether we are tipping teams off as to when we are going to run the ball because the Lions had an uncanny knack of dropping the safety into the box on our run plays.

I agree, in part, after re-watching the game. But there were a couple of plays (like the first carry) where he had a ton of room to run if he gets one player to miss and no longer seems to have the ability. Sure, the OL has issues but there were a few plays in that game which were blocked well and CJ had to do his part and didn't.

I don't know if it's lack of heart, decline in physical skills or what but he's done in Tennessee unless he doesn't find some answers soon.

And I did notice a safety creeping up on the only run play called in the 4th quarter. I can't imagine the Titans tipping the run but it does seem strange how teams seem to guess so well.

If you were to challenge CJ to a race, I wouldn't even know who to bet on at this point.

I bet Wimbley could beat him in the 40 at this point.

    and ....

what about his other appearances? Yes 'the Diva' had a good outing, but he could not sustain it.
