I've usually found your posts very level-headed in the past so I'm a bit shocked to see you among the bridge jumpers with this one.

Last year, Palmer went into the season thinking CJ was something he could build an offense around. After a couple of games, when it was obvious CJ wasn't going to get it done, he made big changes to the offensive scheme. Despite losing his #1 WR, it was one of the most productive offenses the Titans have had in some time. I wasn't thrilled with the hire at the time but that transformation last season by Palmer impressed me so I am willing to see how he responds to the current situation dealing with a young QB before passing judgement.

Defensively, Gray is dealing with his captain being injured while playing against two of the most potent offenses in the league. I am concerned with players being out-of-position and the communication issues we saw last week but I think they got pressure on Rivers which didn't happen much last season. No defense is going to do well when on the field 43 minutes. The offense isn't giving him much help.

My expectations after four games was that the Titans would be 1-3, at best. Based on the youth on both sides of the ball, and a brutal schedule early, I felt 8-8 was a realistic prediction for the season. I think it's far too early to write off this coaching staff and, making any changes before the end of the season would be knee-jerk, at best.

I agree 100%. This franchise has a history of being with 8-8 seasons. Fisher wasn't fired for his record, he was fired because he and Bud had a clash of egos.

The OL situation is a colossal fail on the part of the front office. They made it clear going into the off season that Amano and Scott needed to be replaced. granted they brought Henderson in, but that is a very short term solution if it is a solution at all. For whatever reason, the centers they brought in weren't signed then all of a sudden, Amano was our starting center again with the full support of Munchak and Mathews. Typical "coach speak".

Worse yet for this organization is the history of top tier talent they have let leave without attempting to resign them; KVB, Babin, Tulloch, and Finnegan just to name a few. There has been a constant net drain of talent off this team ever since Reinfeldt took over as GM.

Looking at how the Texans have taken over the AFC South is a glaring indictment of the Titans organization. The product on the field ultimately is determined by the effectiveness of the front office, scouting and coaching staff.

Do you not believe last year's draft class wasn't among the best in recent franchise history?

The Texans have played in the postseason once in franchise history despite drafting early year after year. I don't give their front office much credit for their success. Personally, I feel they've done nothing but under-achieve for years by making bad personnel decision.

As for allowing talent to walk, KVB was declining and Tulloch sucked. I'd loved to kept Finnegan but, on the most part, this franchise has made good decisions on who they've allowed to walk.

I think the greatest statement is to see where Harbaugh has taken the 49ers in the same amount of time. Cut that any way you want TJ, but it is a glaring and obvious statement.

Call me a "bridge-jumper" if you like, I am just comfortable (and confident) this staff isn't going to get it done. I don't see us better than 6-10 this year, a step backwards. And don't get too excited that our 9-7 last year was a great indicator of talent. Look at who we beat and who we lost too. We had an exceptionally EASY schedule last year.

If I had seen ANY signs of the problems from last year improved, I'd be reluctant to give up on this staff. But those problems are in fact much worse. I didn't expect to beat the Pats or Chargers but I was shocked at the absolutely WRETCHED performance I saw from the Titans. And that wretched preparation is the flag-sign of coaching. They simply can't fix the very problems they identify. Ruston Weber down- they can't get it done.

You don't give Munch any credit for last season because the Titans had an easy schedule yet the Niners feasted on the NFC West. Harbaugh also was given a team with quite a bit of talent due to their draft position the last few years.

And, why don't you bring up all the other first-year coaches and their records? Munch looks pretty good against most of them.

We are 12.5% into the season. If we don't see dramatic improvement by the mid-point of the year, I'll ask you to make room on the bridge. Right now, I am hopeful the Titans begin to show improvement which results in wins once we hit October.

IMO it is OK to jump off the ledge with the pitiful showing we have seen so far. Doesn't mean you can't crawl back on if things turn around.

First of all the Pats spanked us in our house. Embarrasing to some extent but hey, they might be the best team in the NFL. Then the Pats lose to the awesome Cardinals the next week at home.

Against SD we had no hope.

Full off season to work on some things, a quality draft where our 1st round pick has really helped early and we are more sorry than we were last season. I realize this team is going to lose their share of games against the better teams in the NFL right now. But I never imagined they wouldn't even make a game of it.

And the 49ers were in a much better situation than we were. Singletary built the team and Harbaugh is a better coach but he is reaping some benefits from the players that were there during Singletary times.

Patrick Willis alone makes a huge difference compared to anyone we had on D.

I think we all felt the same way (1-3 at best). But did you expect we'd get blown out 72-23 in the first two games? And did you expect we'd look so unbelievably inept on both sides of the ball? And did you believe the defense would have the exact same problems as last year? Did you believe the run game would have somehow managed to be EVEN WORSE than last year? All this with a full offseason to work with this time around.

I can't knock you for your optimism. I honestly wish I could be optimistic about this staff and this team's future prospects. But I'm with Riverman 100% on this. This coaching staff has shown me nothing to prove they're anymore than average, at best. I will GLADLY eat crow if they prove otherwise. But based on what we've seen so far, I'd say the pessimistic view is more based in reality than the optimistic one.

Every statement is well said. We don't even need to the stats to know we are a worse team in most aspects.

I just don't know how anyone can objectively look at the lack of progress over two seasons on identified problems and rationalize the coaches are performing adequately. The interior line mismanagement in the draft and FA period alones qualifies as a major gaffe from the top down.
