we have plenty of cap space available to us right now (i think it was around 20M as of July 1) AND we'll probably dump Hasselbeck next year freeing up his salary.

So we have plenty of money to carry over into next season to lock up a ot of these young guys at solid prices.

I wonder what Colin is worth to the titans right now? I mean who could they trade McCarthy for if they wanted a trade? Just wondering how much McCarthy means to our team after 1 season and another great preseason.

I don't think they'd trade him for a 1st round pick to be honest. Munchak expects him to be the centerpiece of the defense for the next 5-8 years and that's really hard to find. Someone who works hard, leads by example and has good football instincts. If he was a little more athletic, I'd rank him as one of the best up-and-coming LBs.

For all the kool-aid we've been drinking, we really do need to take his success in perspective. If he keeps it up for another 16 games, I'll truly be on the bandwagon.

People who whinge about the Titans never paying for anyone never give an example of a player who has left and gone on to do good things elsewhere.

Lorenzo Neal, who was cut I believe....and Randy Starks is/was doing okay in Miami. Then Mason in Baltimore who was a cap casualty.

Hardly anything to write home about.

He's definitely in the running for top up and coming. And as far as his athleticism, he's a 250 pound LB who runs a 4.5 40. He's as fast as some RB's in the league. He's got lateral quickness and great instincts that allow him to make plays in the backfield and plays on the ball. He's like a white Ray Ray who's better in coverage (not there yet though).

I think we should all be excited about our LB's. Brown is coming around and we've already got 2 second year guys who should be part of our defense for a long time. If RoJo pans out we've got a solid unit for years to come.
