The worst thing about UFC is all the "expert" fighters it has created. You will learn just enough to get your @ss kicked or seriously hurt a buddy just screwing around.

I wish everyone would take a few martial arts classes just to learn how to get some basic defenses and so meat heads know how to properly not hurt someone.

I have practiced some amateur MMA, and that **** is rough and it is practical too. I would go so far as to say it is the hardest sport out there for obvious reasons. Sadly, fans just keep me and alot of other guys away from it. Everybody comes out as Randy Couture after a match or two.

Know what's funny to me? All the tough guys doing it here in TN...

I don't know if it's changed, but used to- a knock out win didn't count. So it was all submission.

I was thinking... damn. Let me go in to a fight when someone's not trying to kick me in the face, and I like my odds quite a bit more. If all I have to do is tap out the moment I'm submitted? I'll be a "pro" too...

Sucks to know a guy could have 5 KOs and be winless. lol

Not sure if the rule has changed since.

Id really love to hear about DW doing a session of Nogi grappling and come back to tell me he was resting "mid" match.

Compare any standup fight to a grueling grappling match at look at the two when they are done, The grapplers are much more tired.

And mma isn't strategic? Again, I pause and laugh at your ignorance.

Go find the closest BJJ gym around and I dare you to go roll with any one in the building. Even the clueless dude with no idea what he's doing trying to use his strength to win the match... You funny.

More tired? Look at their builds. Typically, MMA fighters are in much worse physical shape also... so I wouldn't take "clearly more tired" into consideration.

Grappling is more exhausting than standing in MMA because they have no footwork. No ring control. However, there are a lot of times (far too many) when they're merely laying there hoping to ride the clock out.

    MMA isn't that strategic. Sorry.

UFC at least. I hate using "MMA" because I'm mostly referencing UFC when I talk about this stuff.

Look at most your wins. Most come off some fluke punch, some carelessness that ends in a submission, etc.

Go to a BJJ gym? Sure. The moment they come spar with any of us boxing. lol

Not about all the hugging. Not my thing.

Lol you worried about some guy grabbing your junk DW? You know the most homophobic guys are normally gay right? just saying.

Actually, the more your speak in this thread the more I get the feeling you are one of those bigger, badder, stronger, affliction cats. Please continue....

haha I'm like the least homophobic guy on the board probably. Tons of gay friends and no problem with it.

Doesn't mean I want to dry hump guys though.

And not even close to those bigger badder types. When I boxed it was all speed and nothing else. Untouchable. Stay pretty and piece folks up.

I don't know how many, or what kind of fights you have been in, but every single one I have seen and been a part of end up on the ground. MMA is immeasurably more "strategic" than boxing. Thats basically all MMA is really, DW hate to say it, but you really don't know what you are talking about on this one.

I watched the Bradley/Pacquiao fight and I thought it was pretty close could have gone either way...

Only reason there was such an uproar was because:

    A. The PPV guys were riding Pacquiao's junk to an unbelievable extent. The fight wasn't a blow out by any means, the announcers just fooled a lot of dumb boxing fans into thinking that. The "Leaderman Card" is the most inaccurate measure of a fight ever.

    B. Half the people complaining didn't even see the fight. They looked at the stats that ESPN and HBO provided and assumed it was a blowout. But more unknowledgable sports fans didn't realize "power punches" and every other bogus stat ESPN showed out of a clear bias towards Paquiao isn't even a criteria for the judges.

If you watched the fight you saw Bradley cut Pacman (Pacman didn't do anything to Bradley's face), Bradley was aggressive all night long, had GREAT defense throughout, and got his shots in too (3rd round he did a number on Pacquiao's ribs).

Pacman did this to himself, he looked like he was coasting through the fight, not taking Bradley serious and not respecting him as a fighter, didn't realize he was losing the fight all along. (At one point he smiled to the judges because bradley got fatigued as he was dodging pacquiao blows and went in for the hug)
