I do fault Hasselbeck a lot for that, he should have recognized that he was in no condition to start that game.

    And thats the biggest thing.

Everyone says you can't go by strength of schedule just yet, but you are kidding yourself if you think Munch will not choose Matt unless Locker just blows him out of the water.

And that has been our problem for so long. Put the better player on the field. Stop being conservative because by being conservative we are our own worst enemy. This team needs to build chemistry early with its leader and that is clearly Jake.

The more that I reflect on things, the more I feel like they might just allow Locker to have a fair shot. We had a medium risk/high reward draft and didn't play super conservative last season. We had some close games we should've won. Maybe if we did start Locker earlier we would've beat NO, ATL, and the Colts. That would've secured us a playoff spot and given us a shot at the division.

I don't believe the competition is going to be neck and neck. I believe there is going to be a clearly better QB. I believe that QB will be Locker. He just is to eager to adjust to the pro game and he's athletically much more gifted.

I honestly feel after watching last season, the only way people don't want Jake to start is because they didn't want to draft him. Granted teams didn't have film on him though.

I love Jake too and think he has a shot to win the job, but just playing devil's advocate here.

Everyone keeps talking about how well Jake played (and I agree) this past season. But if you think about it in terms of the other team's defense, they planned all week to face Hasselbeck. A pocket passer, who is not very mobile, and has an average arm. When Jake came in they were facing a guy who will roll out a lot more, is extremely mobile, and has a rocket arm. They hadn't planned for Jake, so naturally he should look good against a defense who didn't plan for him, nor had much tape on him.

Perhaps. But it all boils down to, he ain't gonna get any better sitting on the bench.

Totally agree and thats a much better elaboration on my last sentence. But the fact that he did experience success like he did was nice, something Gabbert never had even at the start of the season.
