I wonder if his contract played into this somehow because, though both Amano and Harris take reps at C and G, this made no sense if Harris was ready to step in at center. You don't put players in positions based on request.

I'm guessing Harris wasn't getting it done.

I wish someone would ask Munch what his plans are. Is there an open competition? Will he leave things "as-is" and just flip Harris to RG? Webster did say yesterday the search continues for a center via free agency but I have no idea who is left out there besides Faine and Gurode.

I was thinking about a lot of what you guys have been discussing regarding the interior o-line. Maybe they brought in all those centers and OL'men to show that jobs are really open; to both us and the players.

Every year coaches say that (basically) 'all jobs are open for competition and the best player will play', but after you have excellent pass blocking (top 5 in least sacks allowed i think) and run block for a 2K rusher, realistically, are you going to change your linemen?

After this past year though, i think it is safe to assume the staff is not happy with our interior. Also, when bringing people in, maybe they felt they have better value in the players they have here.

I for one really like Valz, every time i have seen him play (even at tackle) he has done really well. I also want to see what Matthews has in him. I am really hoping that one of these guys wins a starting job.

I'd like for Munch to treat this as he did the QB position and say it's an open competition. Both center and right guard should be on the table during training camp.

on the season ticket holder voice conference thing MM said that EA, Matthews, the bammer Rookie and Velasco would compete for the C position. Too me that infered that Harris was solid at RG and the 137 year old FA LG need not worry either.

That's not really solid competition...We need to sign Jason Brown. If Velasco won the job we wouldn't have enough backup guards...I'm sure we would cut Amano if he lost the starting job. You don't pay backup centers 5 million a year.

Let there be an open competition at Center and Guard. If Amano doesn't win a spot, then cut him.

Houston or Jax would sign him just to get all the line protection signals, then cut him.

"Um, well, 47 stunt orange go" is the play where I trip myself and fall into the running back. 37 monggose green is where I launch myself backward into the QB's lap. That's about all I got."
