The Giants drafted JPP based largely on potential.

Valid points and I am getting tired of 'projects' sucking up roster spots that football players could be getting.

BUT Kearse was a project, moved positions as he grew in college, and fishface was intent on making him a DE. I will always be happy that the stoolers drafted that midget WR to give Cordell a target - stoopid stoolers

Anyways Kearse worked out. If, I say IF, the players buy into the Titans then there is no reason it could not work out. As far as the DE/TE from 'insert SWC school here' goes. He will either work out as a TE or he will probably not be in the NFL. We will know early on that one IMO

I love how everyone leading up to the draft kept saying "always take BPA, drafting for need gets you in trouble" Then when we draft BPA that doesn't address a need everyone says "What are they thinking, we don't need that position" I give this draft a B because the Titans stayed true to their board. I would have taken some other guys, but I also didn't scout anyone and have no idea what I'm doing. I will be rooting for all of these guys to succeed and they seem to have very good potential to be something special.

You will NEVER find me on that silly "draft BPA" logic wagon.

You fill needs unless you're already a super bowl contender- THEN you can afford to take talented guys you hope pan out.

Otherwise bad teams just stay bad. Which is what we'll probably do. Our DL is going to get shredded this year, and our OL will get crushed. Those are the most important areas to address for any team- ours are bad- and we neglected them.

Brown - Everyone else seems to disagree with your assertion that he sucks. That is pretty much every expert, the Titans front office, and whoever picks the ACC all conference team.

Sensebaugh - He's a pretty good corner with lots of upside. If we can coach him up, he could be a solid NFL corner. If not, he's depth.

Thompson - Are you friggin retarded? Have you not seen the other teams (Saints, Chargers, Pats) find athletic freaks, some of whom have never played a DOWN OF FOOTBALL IN THEIR LIFE, and make them into All Pros?

Do you really think that the Titans have NO IDEA if he can catch? They watched his all star game workouts. He visited BSP.

And let's say you're right, and he can't catch. Its not like we couldn't give him a shot at the position he did play, and earn ALL CONFERENCE honors at!

But you'd rather have some overachieving college player who has no shot of doing squat in the NFL I guess.

Merkelle - He's a sixth. He's supposed to suck. This guy doesn't. He'll get playing time, and maybe start one day.
    ____

I'll agree to share your misgivings about Brown. He has some risk. But at least, he does have incredible potential.

But the others... I LIKE taking chances on huge potential in the fourth fifth and sixth. They may actually be great someday, unlike the depth player practice squad bums you commonly see taken late. Most fifth and later picks are seldom heard from again. At least swing for the fences on em.

DL was adressed in FA and draft. Wimbley and Martin
OL was adressed in FA. OL is still one of the best when it comes to pass protection.

Why so negative? Let's wait and see how it turns out.

Huh?? Most experts are saying he's "allergic to contact" and doesn't tackle. How is that them disagreeing with me?

    Right.

For every Antonio Gates there are 100 big fast guys that did jack sh** in the pros. Sure, it's fun to think about, and with where we drafted him- I don't mind. But don't count on it.

Quite a difference between tossing a ball around and playing TE/WR in an actual game. This pick I don't dislike so much though, so we can move on from it.

The position he wasn't good enough causing him to convert to another position that he hasn't played? Doesn't sound like that'd work.

Huh? A proven player, you mean?...

We've got a good history with late round DBs. This probably wont be one. If he plays, we're in serious trouble.
    ____

Of course. He has great athletic ability. I just like being a bit safer with early picks. Addressing NEEDS rather than taking pure shots in the dark based on a guy's 40 time and "potential". That's how we end up with the Chris Henry's, Woolfolk's, Troupe's, etc.

In later rounds, I'm ok with it.

Martin is good depth. Wimbley isn't a 3down DE.

Hutch is a great signing, but we still have Amano?

You're optimistic to say the least... I'm cynical.
