Knoz or Barron make the most sense if you balance need with strength of draft

Konz may be the safest pick but he's definitely not the best pick. I rather go Center in round 3 or 4.

his durability issues make him far from a safe pick

The only reason I don't want Konz in the first is because I really like David Molk; I think he is the best center in the draft this year.

I'd love Barron in the first though. I think he is going to be an amazing player in the NFL. I'd jump for joy if we could end up with a draft of:

    1. M. Barron, DB, Alabama
    2. V. Curry, DE, Marshall
    3. D. Molk, C, Michigan
    4. D. Menzie, DB, Alabama
    5. D. Harris, DT, USC

Tears of joy if we land the first 3 rounds like this. IDK if Curry will make it that far to 52 depends on how many DE go in the first round. I love Molk in the third, but Id rather go Ron Brooks CB LSU in the fourth

I'd be okay with Brooks in the forth as well. Another guy to watch is Chase Manniefield out of UVA. Dude would of been a 2nd round pick had he not been injured.

Edit: Omar Bolden would be worth a shot is the 5th also. Dude has a ton of talent but was never really able to stay healthy (kinda like McCarthy). Maybe missing last year in college and sitting behind Verner and McCourty would let him get back to 100%

I think the coaching staff and FO totally see center as a need. Otherwise why would they have brought in every top center available in FA. Just because we didn't sign one doesn't mean it isn't a priority.

Taking Konz in the first wouldn't totally be drafting for need. Plenty of draft prognosticators have him graded as a guy around 20-30 on their big boards.

My main point is that if you have Konz, Barron, a DE, and a DT graded about the same then you would be better off grabbing Konz or Barron because their is very little depth at center and safety. While DE, DT, and CB are quite deep and a quality starter will be available in the 2nd and 3rd rnds.

You can't say that about center and safety.

I like Manniefield alot as well. He has football in his blood. Father was a Pro Bowl CB for the Browns. Just like former teammate Dowling(2nd round pick to NE) he fell off the map cus is nagging injuries. I also like Bolden but he has a bad knee.
