Brockers' lack of pass rush ability really makes me question whether he's worth a first round pick. I think the hype around him might not be supported by his real life ability.

All reaches at 20. Not to mention, with the depth of the DT class, foolish.

Yeah i agree that the attitude that we should take a Dt at 20 hell or high water is not prudent at all. None of these guys except Poe had outstanding workouts. None of these guys can touch JJ Watt's numbers from last year.

If we want a run stopper than Brockers might be the guy. Still might be the best all around.

Honestly we get the same thing with outside pass rushers so if that is the goal why not trade back 7-10 spots, take a guy like Curry or branch and then trade up with our 2nd rd pick and get a guy like Still? Or turn it around and get Still first but all these 3-4 teams picking late are going after the outside pass rushers. Steelers-ravens-pats will all be looking at that type of player. The D-linemen who will be available at picks 27 and 40 are as good as who we could get at 20.

Do you think after last year failure at bigger is better, we go back to the small speed rusher type guys. We are a passing league now, I would love to have an Albert in the middle with Casey. Their are some intriguing prospects that could play for us that are a little undersized:

    Kendell Reyes 1st-2nd
    Shea McClellin 1st-2nd
    Tim Fugger 5th-7th
    Chandler Jones 1st-2nd
Just to name a few off the top of my head

I don't necessarily think the "bigger is better" theme last year proved it wasn't a good idea. Considering that it normally takes a couple years to stack the proper talent and personel together. I'll save judgement on the Dline scheme til at least this year depending on how we draft.

We had an average sized line last year, plenty of teams have a pass rush with those "big" guys. We just didn't last year because of our personal, not because of their size.

Didn't know Jones-Smith-Casey-Morgan was an average size line

I would assume that two ends being around the 270s, Casey being 300ish and the split time between an undersized Klug, oversized Smith makes that fairly average sized for a 4-3 line.

Just look at that line tho.

Jones was not suited for the DE role. Never really showed up big.

Smith is a wasted roster spot with a bad attitude. Never did anything and was basically benched the later half the season.

Casey showed up big and provided us with some stability and is a rook, like what I've seen from him.

Morgan was still suffering from his acl surgery and didn't really get going til the last few games. I think he makes a big splash next year tho.

And just to mention, klug was our best pass rusher with 7 sacks. (of course he isn't a sizable DT but he has a good game and can beat guards)

    San'derick marks, whatever.

It's easy to see why we did nothing on the defensive front. This year we have wimbley (255 lb) who's main role is gonna be rushing the passer. Preferably another good size DT to help Casey, a healthy Morgan, who could really make a difference this season. And also klug to play interior rush specialist.
