Funny, what was the biggest DT we drafted last year?

Are you speaking of his statements before last years draft, because I do recall him saying something about being able to stop the run, then we go out and draft 2 DT's that are 300 pounds and one that is 275, go figure.

Luke Kuechly not so much a position of need, but would love to see him in the middle of our defense and move McCarthy to outside linebacker.

The league is changing and I think Jerry Gray found that out, you don't need a big dominating defense line anyone, because everyone is passing. You need the faster lineman that can get around the edge and shoot the gaps to hurry the quarterback. That is also why you need good supporting linebackers who can shred blocks and make plays during the run because of the smaller lineman. I still want one huge Albert Haynesworth type player in the middle, you almost need to for your small guys to get the pressure.

LB is not a need, but I'd love to have Kuechly. But isn't he faster than McCarthy? Maybe he would be a good WLB and keep Colin in the middle

Keep in mind 'perfect fit' doesn't mean he's just the right weight and height for a position. I'd rather take the better player at 255 than a worse player at 275 at de. Nimbly is an explosive pass rusher and that's exactly what we need. He's light but we still need one.

Saying Poe doesn't fit a 4-3 is like saying given the chance, wed turn down haloti ngata if we had the chance to get him because he's the perfect fit as a 3-4 nt. Guess what, he plays de too in the ravens scheme because he causes all kinds of problems. Guys like ngata fit all schemes because they are dominant players.

We would definitely take a guy like Poe because I think the titans do want an ah single big body dominant DT in the middle who forces a double team. I think they would love Coples at de from nc because he's Julius peppers size and a big run stuffing de who can rush the passer is his ideal. Think a young keven Carter or strahan is what they'd like. Of course, Coples himself only gave himself a c grade in terms of effort by him last year, so do you take him because of what he could be? Or do you take a size speed guy and hope he turns into Jason Pierre-Paul instead of Travis laboy!

Barron could be a good fit at s if his coverage skills are there. We know he's a beast as an in the box s. Can he be a good half field s vs the pass and match up on te's?

First of all, saying a NT doesn't fit a 43 scheme is just incorrect. Each 43 scheme can not be looked at in the exact same light. There are different nuances in between each teams 43 front.

For example, some teams arnt worried as much about stopping the run within the front four and rely heavily on the LBs to take them down. The wide nine is an example of this. Both DTs are to be shooting the gaps they are given and the DEs are playing pure pass.

Another 43 look, a more traditional look, is to collapse the pocket from the inside out. And play a much more tactical numbers game. In this scheme you have the big NT that will hold his ground run plays. While taking on a C and a G and primarily try to push the center back into the qb on passing downs. This allows the DT beside him a single guard to beat on the inside if the NT wins his match up against two. Essentially flushing the qb to one side or the other and not allowing him to step into his throws. giving the DEs more chance.

This setup gives the DE on the weak side, a one on one with a tackle and the strong side a TE chipping/blocking and a tackle.

It's not so black and white either. Each team has variations they try to instal and difference of opinion.

Poe is pretty scheme-versatile, he can play in a 4-3.

And stop saying Poe isn't quick. The guy only had a better ten-yard split than most of the DE prospects at the combine.
