I think the thing is that we are watching definite needs get signed. Missed out on the 1st and 2nd best DE's and Centers.

Its logical to assume that we didnt know what we were going to be able to offer then, because Mannings contract wont be cheap.

IF he says no, then we missed out on a few people we could have afforded, unless they just dont like TN or didnt consider us.

IF he says yes, then a whole storm of other crap comes to this board. For instance, what if he plays at a high level for 2 years, but goes one and out twice, again? THen he decides he can still play. With the "for life" contract that Bud is talking about, then PM could easy say "hey, I want to play a few more years". What are we going to do, cut him lol?

Im at the point to where I want to get to the 2nd tier of FA signing and see what happens.

And might I add, if we DO get Peyton and he's even 70% of what he was in 2010 we upgraded the most important position on the field BIG TIME. Peyton Manning can have much more of an impact on the W/L column than Mario Williams. Peyton Manning can have much more of an impact on the W/L column than Scott Wells. Peyton Manning can have.... well, you get the picture.

Yes, if he does end up choosing Denver it will indeed suck. But I'd rather take a shot at adding a guy like Manning than grab a 31 year old center and give $100 million contract to an overrated DE.*

*To clarify, no I don't think Mario sucks... by any means. But he certainly doesn't deserve to be the highest paid defender in the NFL. And that's what it was going to take to land him. Why else sign with Buffalo? They're a mediocre team. The city is boring. The weather is bad. It was all about money for that guy. We were not going to give him that kind of money.

Yeah I dunno just getting a bad feeling and very impatient.

I mean Bud is too blame if hes telling the F.O. to focus primarily on Manning and no one else, but Huthchinson did come in and sign so obviously some progess is getting done.

A few days ago I really thought this was in the bag, Peyton in Tennessee and although hating the idea at first I warmed up to it. But now im starting to prepare for the worst.

So awkward for Matt Hasselbeck. If Peyton goes to Denver its like uhh ok Matt your our guy get back out there ...

And man the defense looks baaaad on paper still - maybe the draft will shore things out a bit or perhaps Wimbley or Porter I dont know at this point I just want this whole ordeal to be over with.

I think if we landed Freeney once he gets cut, THEN I would feel like this was a very successful free agency.

Could have been better with the signing of Wells/Myers, though.

Our defense is NOT as bad as it looked last year. Our offense had more 3 and outs than any team in the NFL has had in a while. That killed our defense!! Especially the run defense.

Truth be told, I am not FREAKING OUT either (although I am in a la-z-boy). I am just taking the events as they come, and, based on my experience in business, making some common sense based judgements on what I am seeing happen.

You reference our past history in signing FAs....in reality, this group (Reinfeldt, Munchak) started working together last August, when we quickly brought in Hasselback, which I had not seen us do in the past. This year we appeared to be methodically moving towards filling gaps (DL, OL), which I had not seen too much before.

Then Bud steps in with his "clear out all of our pockets, we are going after Peyton" speech, and we totally change direction. This was a matter of time more than anything else....the longer this took, the more folks would sign with other teams. When we are in a no expense uncommitted negotiating war, how can you possibly commit larger sums of money (Hutch came cheap, if you may recall) to top flight players....this is common sense.

Now I may be wrong on some of these guys, but I am reasonably sure that I am not on all.

One other thing....do not think for one second that I am blaming Peyton here. He is doing what is best for himself and his family IMO...when you have someone who is offering to pay for your services say things like "contract for life" and "whatever it takes", it is common sense to take the time to see how far that actually goes, which is what he is doing.

I do, however, blame Bud for this. If he wanted Peyton, he should have discussed it privately with the folks he hired to do these things, and not handicap the process (for everyone, including the other teams involved in this) by giving away ALL leverage the way he did.....just BONEHEAD stupid IMO.

I have to ask how you go from being ready to pummel our 89 year old owners face with your fists to this in a half-hour in which nothing has happened?

Well, Peyton has clearly held us hostage. Probably his plan all along.

Gotta sign Saturday now - which I'm fine with in all honesty. He's just really old - you can bring up Mawae all you want, but he was a stud in great shape. Not many lineman like him.

Saturday probably has two more seasons in him at the most.

How can you say that when we only lost players from our starting defense? We havent had any additions last time I checked. Unless your banking on the draft and Morgan. I still have no faith in our secondary.

    Griffin killed our D

absoutly the worst S in the NFL and the Titans franchised him.

    What was the logic????

I wonder if throwing sacks of $$$s at Griffin will get his useless Texas butt back too playing football. Only one way too find out - TAG!
