Everyone on this board jumps on the media bandwagon of players and think that is all we should take their a ton of options at safety this year that have the potential to be good, we will never know how these guys will translate into the NFL. Same go for other positions in this year draft everyone is getting excited over the combine warriors.

I question Barron's coverage skills. I just haven't seen him really man up on a slot wr or TE and really break on the ball. Most of the plays I've seen have been helping out in zone. Barron was a LBer in high school. Can he cover in the nfl? The strong safety position is a dying position. I want to make sure we don't draft one

People have to realize its hard to find a safety now a days to do both, we need to pick our poison.

Either we take a guy who excels in coverage, but is a liability in the run game.

    Or

We take the hard nose guy who we put up in the box and pray no one throw deeps over them.

Michael Griffin was good at one time, when we had a dominating defensive line that is where the focus needs to be. Morgan can be a very good player for us this was essentially his rookie year I'll give him two more years to develop before I give up on the kid. Really a disruptive DT and a speed rusher is all we need for our line to be great, I wish Poe didn't perform so well at the combine I was high on this guy for a long time.

That's why there are two safety positions.

So tell me who exactly covers the deep part of the field when we run cover 2 zone? The SS position still has to be able to cover the deep threat. If you have a stout defense line and a good linebacker core your safeties should never have to come up and make a play.

That is exactly how I think we need to build our defense. Have 7 guys upfront who can shut down the run and have 4 solid cover guys. You shouldn't have to bring that extra safety down in the box often, but you sure as hell need him to cover a bunch.

Yes. Two safeties on the field...both at some point will be expected to play coverage AND tackle a RB.

Ed Reed comes up and makes plays on the run. As does Polamalu.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to watch some tape and see that he's the best safety in the class or at least not just hype. You can go off what others say but Barron was the leader of that defense and best on the field. If you want someone on that team that's all about the hype and overrated go look at Dre Kirkpatrick, his physical tools is why scouts love him so much.

Disagree about the track record. If you're playing for someone who has proven to get guys in the NFL and is known as one of the best at that position I think that helps, especially with the talent Barron has. You can say he's more "NFL ready" than some other prospects at his position.

Pretty sure I was the first one on the pick Barron bandwagon and I'm sticking with him. A pass rusher would be nice but considering the depth of that position it would be wise to just go ahead and get this franchise SS.

Only other player I would pick instead of a DE would be Janoris Jenkins, great CB even though the Titans won't draft him so really...

That was 2010 season, imo he was even better last year.
