DT #93 Shaun Smith

When I was just an embreyo when my mom went to southern Utah with my dad a Bear attacked them I cam out wrestled it to the ground ripped it to shreds and fed it to a pack of wolves and taught Chuck Norris all my moves then went back in my moms womb.

 

Lol as odd as it is, no one here was trying to outdo each other with our comments, just showing how bad marks not being able to hit 225 is.

 

Marks was a huge bust. What is puzzling to me is that he started on most Sundays over Klug/Casey.

 

I used to be a power lifter then i took an arrow to the knee.

 

Problem with our DT's is they were easily pushed out of (or left) their gaps. Not impressed with either Smith or Marks- they both were blown up all year. Klug and Casey were active enough to shed a block and maintain their responsibilities although they also occasionally got blown out. We need a brutal run stuffing "disruptive" DT in the middle IMO. By that I mean a BIG bodied athletic guy that plow his way into the backfield essentially straight ahead. (Like Haynesworth was his better years.) That would shut down ALOT of runs getting to the second level and cutbacks. There are a couple of those DTs in the draft this year.

 

Ok so clearly Marks is crap, we have at least 5 posters here who could beat his azz.

 

While a disappointment for a 2nd rounder, I actually think Marks is a serviceable defensive lineman. As a rule, our expectations for players are ridiculous. Not every DT is going to be contract year Haynesworth and not every DE is going to be Mario or Julius Peppers.

I'm sure that Marks will have to win his job in camp and if he doesn't, he'll be cut. I would like to see him cut, simply because that means that we've added depth at that position.

 

As long as we draft his replacement this year so he gets little playing time I'll be cool with that.

 

Casey is a rookie and was a ton better then smith. He was signed for size and did nothing but run that mouth and get flags cut him
