Don't go lumping me into this ANYTHING SEC category. While I feel that OSU should be the #2 team, I'm not pissed.....it's just the current system.

I think I've made my points clear. Since there's obviously not going to be a playoff anytime soon, I feel the the Coaches/Human polls and AQ status should be amended and strength of schedule should be brought back as a factor.

Here is what everyone is going to say if Bama wins...WE NEED A PLAYOFF. I don't think many in this thread haven't said we don't need one. Both OSU and Bama can make a case for being in the game. Both can have cases for NOT being in the game. It is what it is. While some can accept it and call for change in the future, others, who aren't old enough to remember a time without the BCS, like to whine and complain just for the sake of feeling "cool" and "against the mainstream". I've heard more complaining from fans of the Big 11 about this than fans of teams actually involved.

And yes...The commissioner of the SEC, Mike Slive, did propose the the BCS conferences a +1 playoff system. The ACC agreed that we needed this atleast. The others, including Big 12, rejected it.

^Right. Once again... you don't see anything weird about the conference that benefits most from the current system proposing a playoff system?... And even further: That no other conference was even interested in listening to the guy? They didn't even show up.

That doesn't seem odd to you? Yet those same conferences are practically begging for a playoff system... have been for years. I guess if we believe everything one columnist says about that, sure. lol

The SEC proposing a playoff system makes as much sense as Republicans proposing a ban on the topics of God, Gays, and Guns in debate.

I do remember a few split years. AP and UPI didn't always agree. Thing is with the BCS, AP is still a legit award. If LSU loses close, and OSU annihilates Stanford, the AP could still crown their own champ. Look how close Bama and OSU are in the AP. 18 points is all that separates.

Not sure what you are saying here. That there wasn't a playoff proposed by Slive in 2008? And apparently only ACC supported the idea?

    Now Big 12 agrees...

    You are epically clueless.

The SEC has always been the groundbreaking conference in college football. Remember when the SEC started a championship game? What did everyone else in the country say? They said the SEC would never win a national title and they were giving themselves a disadvantage by playing an extra game... that it made no sense! But the SEC did it anyway because it was good for football and would obviously make money.

The SEC proposed the playoff because they know it's good for football and will make more money.

It is pure insanity that you can't accept facts as reality.

Also, without the SEC, we would still be in the old Bowl Only system, which apparently some can't remember that era.

Also without the SEC, NCAA rules and regulations would mean something. :ha:

And no, I'm not saying he didn't propose it. I'm saying that his proposition may have been... garbage? You know there was a catch. The SEC being about the sneakiest conference in football. (ok, clearly THE sneakiest) If it was a legit proposition I'm sure a few conferences would have at least sat down and looked it over with the guy.

But none showing up? When they want a playoff?

Make sense of that for me.
