Hey guys, I don't often start threads but I want to raise an idea here and I want to get a feel of what the expectations are among our membership. First, and I HATE to say it, but up until last week Chris Johnson has been a BUM. Sorry, but it's true. 9 games in the books and he's yet to eclipse the 500 yard mark. Say what you want about our offensive line. Nobody paid them a billion dollars.

How many games has Johnson pushed past the 100 yard mark anyway? Two? Cleveland gives up 142.8 yards rushing per game. That's 30th in the league. Does anyone see how 101 yards against the Browns is under-performing? I know backs split carries, but Mr. Mega Stud Every Coach's Dream should at least meet or exceed the league average against a 4th place team, I don't care how well they defend the pass or how tough their division is. (They do have a good pass defense and nobody will argue the AFC North isn't tough this year)

Anyways, I'm sickened that all we've basically seen out of Johnson is a helmet full of bad teeth, unkempt hair and suck. Seriously, the game last week, first half alone was... I don't want to be too hard on Johnson because he had a better 2nd half, but Johnson didn't do TOO much to impress me and he really just capitalized on a bad team throwing in the towel. The 2nd half doesn't nullify the first. Just my opinion, but I think everyone can agree that consistency is a desirable trait in a franchise "playmaker" type of back.

Which brings me to the present. In this matchup, we are a CLEAR underdog. The Falcons may be 5-4, just as our team is, but they are way better of a team in almost every statistical category. Somehow, our pass defense is ranked better and maybe that's because of #31. I'd like to see Scrapper make a Pro Bowl this year, but that's another discussion. You guys know better than anyone we have some weaknesses, which is funny because sometimes it's those perceived weaknesses that produce big plays.

It's big plays that will be the difference because Matty Ice isn't a freakin' dope. He's a real big league guy with a bunch of weapons. If our defense can do enough, we are going to NEED Chris Johnson to be our rain maker. We are in a position where we need to be a run first, open up the pass kind of strategy. Chris Johnson needs to be a factor back or the Titans will not win. Atlanta is too good to rely on them making mistakes. We are going to have to play big boy ball and win our way.

If Johnson can't come in Sunday, on the momentum of last week and put up an all pro performance he's just a damn bum who isn't worthy of his contract. If Johnson hits the home run, punishes the Falcons, opens up the playbook for Hasselbeck and the receivers and get himself 100+ and a TD run of any appreciable distance and the Titans win, he is what he says he is and it goes without saying he wins my respect and appreciation back.

But all of that is yet to be seen. So what do you think?

    faith....

or if anything else a vote of confidence.

anytime CJ went over 100 this season (twice), we won....if only those past seasons such things were true...

bad luck ...or maybe just timeing, but watever...the sooner CJ moves the sooner we move...

he'll get stuffed at the line... plain and simple.. that's why we need to have a few dump out passes and screens for him... do what WVU did when they were trying to find a RB doing first few games of the season... use the quick short pass in means of the running game... then mix in a run or two when the timing's right.... sorta establish the pass for the run (which won't happen -.-)

I still have no faith, hate to be a debbie downer...

    Against 500 teams CJ went:
    Steelers (7-3) - 14 rushes for 51 yards
    *Ravens (6-3) - 24 rushes for 53 yards
    Bengals (6-3) - 14 rushes for 64 yards
    Texans (7-3) - 10 rushes for 18 yards
    *Broncos (5-5) - 13 rushes for 21 yards
TOTAL: 75 rushes for 207 yards, 2.76 ypc

Even against the terrible Panthers he only got 130 yards. He still didn't impress me that much during the game. I dont think I saw him break a single tackle and still looked to be average speed. The run blocking even looked better, there was some times when I was thinking "CJ IS GUNNA BUST THIS ONE" and then would get tackled by a lineman.

Hate to be a hater, but CJ still hasn't impressed me this year. HOPEFULLY he proooooves me wrong! Please proove me wrong!

Big Time Titan, I don't mind you suck tagging my post because I know my post is a fair assessment. Look at the numbers. That's what this ultimately comes down to. Performance. Instead of being a little whiny baby and hanging just a suck tag on it, why don't you engage me in debate?. It would be a little less juvenile and a bit more manly. Why don't you tell me how my opinion sucks. Hell, half the reason I post is so I can read rebuttles of those who see it differently. I guess we can mark you down for Chris Johnson is awesome and has been nothing but awesome in the poll?

I'm not sure what to think of CJ. No doubt he has underachieved in comparison to the monster production he's had coming into this season but I would never call him a bum. I still just think that he head isn't where it should be. His vision isn't as great and he isn't trying to juke anyone or break away from people either. I don't think that he's loafing like AH just because he's gotten paid.

Up until this point he's not been very impressive at all. Last week was a solid game for him and hopefully a sign of even better things to come. I hope that he buckles down and leads this team into the playoffs and beyond, not just because he's been paid but because he's the best player on this team and we need him to play his best.

I've still got all the faith in the world in him because I know what he's capable of. I won't give up on him unless he gives up on the team which he hasn't. We'll see in these final 7 games what he's really made of when we need him the most.

I feel embarrassed now! Great post from you btw. I want the Titans to win this game so bad. I'm toying with the idea of going. I just live 100 miles from Atlanta. It's just such a crucial game. It's really a make or break, must win type of game. Winning this game is the first step in taking the division. We can get a leg up on Houston over their bye and hopefully the Texans come back rusty and the Titans just get hot. The Titans need to hit a stride and CJ is part of the formula. He is essential. If Johnson doesn't put up the numbers though. It's bad. We were not even supposed to be in the mix but here we are, alive and kicking... All will be forgiven if only Johnson gets it in gear before it's too late. I really want to be hopeful.
