You can't debate expectations with hindsight. So stop doing it.

Again, I dont even think Morgan is that great- but everyone thought Morgan+Jones would be better than our last d-line.

Everyone thought Tulloch sucked too, so throw that out.

Oh that's easy to explain. During the whole 1st half, Amano was knocking guys backwards, he was actually blocking for a change.

Yea other coaches do use more creative blitz packages then Gray does, but that's because MOST teams are covering up for something when they blitz blitz blitz. We don't necessarily have to do that, we have 2 great CB's who are IMO playing as well as any duo in football.

We were out coached, but also out played.

Because we can afford to try something a few times before we realize it's crap. We're 4-4 dude, chill out. Enjoy being in a competitive position 8 games in.

If fisher was still around we'd be 2-6 with a concussed Kerry Collins and awful Rusty Smith backing him up.

Agree with most of your post. I do take issue with how or why do you have good corners and make them play zone? Its the easiest defense for qb to go against. Look what is giving brady fits. Not the zone and 4 man rush. I was hoping for some hybrid looks and a difference on defense. Saw some of that in the first four games. The last several have looked alot like chuck cecil to me!

Not blitzing a rookie qb at home is inexcusable and big part of the loss.

I agree with the rest, except we are 1-7 and KFC with Jeff

Babins sacks were mostly meaningless. Lining up that wide exposes the tackles and makes it tougher to stop the run. He was also a penalty machine.

Tulloch wasn't making plays in our defense. Now he's working behind a good D Line he's free to make plays rather than constantly hustling to bail out the front four

I don't think anyone thought Smith at DT was going to the answer and he isn't. We're still weak at tackle. Gray did get it done early with our players though before he turtled and went Vanilla on us.

Babin is a solid pass rusher, but the guy gives up huge runs time after time.

About 99% of DEs in the NFL would be solid pass rushers if they line up where Babin lines up. I mean most times he has a freakin TE across from him. He is a product of Washburn's system.

    1. No doubt, I totally agree. Especially in the second half with the lead, I just had the feeling we were gonna blow it. It was disgusting how much we looked like Cecil's defense out there.

    2. You said it, inexcusable. I give Dalton credit because he is really good but we didn't do anything to get him rattled and at least try to throw him off of his rhythm. Watching that second half, it looked like he never had a doubt they were gonna come back and win it. He didn't skip a beat, never got overwhelmed.

We did blitz Dalton, he's a smart kid though, and found ways to alleviate the pressure.

I defiantly want us to do more blitzing, but we don't always need to, especially when it's not working and their WR is killing us.

Everyone on here keeps saying Munchak is a Fisher clone, but if that were the case he'd stick with the same game plan he started with. That plan wasn't working at all once the Bengals adjusted at the half.

Cincinnati knew we'd try and pressure Dalton into mistakes. They did a very good job of calling plays with built in escape routes. Sending AJ Green on at least 9-10 curl routes was good on their part, it only takes 2-3 seconds to pull that off, and he did it in 1-2 seconds giving Dalton tons of time to notice him. Don't flip out on the coaching, Cincinnati is going places this year, we just need to make sure we are too.

We blitzed him early, a lot with Finnegan, but 2nd half (as usual) we didn;t.
