hmmmmm, not so pleased walking away from this one

    jumpy film - yes
    scary film - no
    good film - no
    makes sense - no
crammed to much additional demonic info - yes
left the footage and events in the trailer, out of the film - yes
done to throw the viewer off perhaps - probable, just annoyed me and made the story even less plausible

would watch again - well that'd be a no

    :D

Honestly man, it's a somewhat fun concept that is nothing more than a really good Tales From The Crypt episode, except it's been stretched out into a feature film.

It's not a bad film by any means. Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine are both pretty good in this (Labine especially), and the teenager "victims" aren't bad, but the whole premise starts to wear thing about 45 minutes in, and it honestly gets a bit excruciating by the end.

Solid 3/5, but nothing earth shattering as an independent horror film. In fact, as a non-studio film, I thought it was a bit too by-the-numbers.

Went to an EXCELLENT Halloween party last night and only had time for one Horror flick getting home around midnight..
Saw City of The Dead aka Horror Hotel..
Spooky Mass. witch flick with Christopher Lee in a rare "Yank accent" role..
    Great flick for Halloween ambiance..

I am kind of strange with horror movies....the only ones that really freak me out are ones involving ghosts/spirits and things I can actually see happening.

Movies like Vacancy creep me the hell out, or any sort of home invasion one. I am fairly confident that nothing like that would ever come close to me as long as the murderer/thief did their research but its a type of movie you can really see yourself involved in.

The other are ghosts like the first Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch. Nothing scarier than being up against something you doubt to begin with on top of having no real means to defend yourself.

I'd say it was more scary than jumpy. And Idk how you can say it didn't make sense. That's probably more on you than it is on the film makers. Made great sense to me, can't wait for the 4th one.

Since I have work tomorrow, I decided that I wasn't going out to any Halloween shenanigans.

However, I will be cracking open a case of Schlitz and enjoying a proverbial treasure trove of horror films.

    On tap tonight:

    The Fog (Carpenter)
Hello Mary Lou...Prom Night 2 (Bruce Pittman)
    Phenomena (Argento)
Halloween III - Season of the Witch (Tommy Lee Wallace)
Return of the Living Dead III (Brian Yuzna)
    The Brood (Cronenberg)
    Creepshow (Romero)

Kind of an eclectic mix book-ended by two genre classics. Anyone else doing any fun movie marathons tonight?

Ran the yard haunt last night and only had time to fit in two movies Trick r Treat and The Ghost of Frankenstein - as well as the Paul Lynde Halloween Special from 1976.

If you've never seen the Paul Lynde thing it's worth checking out. Features Paul hanging out with The Wicked Witch of the West (Marge Hamilton) from Wizard of Oz and Witchie-Poo from PuffnStuff. KISS lipsynches the hits of the day and Pinky Tuscadero makes an appearance.
It's truly profound - and a classic example of the Donnie and Marie TV culture run wild..

A really good horror movie to watch is "Let me in". It is a remake of the swedish movie "Let the right one in". I personally prefer the swedish original since it is a little more creepy, but the remake is actually very good as well. If you like Vampire movies and you dislike "Twilight" you will probably like "Let me in".
