I know I am probably missing something obvious. Most of the video cards have VGA, HDMI and DVI. like this one. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=322841&CatId=7005 Is there a reason a 1080p LCD TV would not make an excellent monitor?
yeah I know it will plug in, I'm just curious if I'm missing something that would make it a good TV but a crappy monitor. My understanding is that a computer image is not interlaced the way a NTSC frame is. So a 1080p, p being progressive like a computer image, should work fine. With the price differences I am just thinking I must be missing something
It will work just fine as long as your graphics card can match the resolution of the TV. If you connect it via hdmi or dvi (with adapter) the graphics card will automatically adjust to the TV resolution. If you have only VGA out on your card you will have to manually adjust the setting.
I've connected my laptop to my big screen TV with a USB cord...works fine, picture quality is same as on the laptop monitor, just bigger...
