    So you really want to argue David Carr or Alex Smith would be as good as Aaron Rodgers if they just sat a few years before becoming starting QBs. Really?

    Let me make it simple. NO.

    IDK dude, I think it could have made a world of a difference for Carr. David Carr sucked because he was a Texan with no blocking. Alex Smith sucked cause he sucks, and happened to have a new system every year since 2005. Nothing about Rodgers impressed me coming into the league.

    You are reading into things that are not there

    One of Carr's biggest faults was that he was afraid of getting hit in his last few years in Houston. Why? Did he not set a record for sacks that year from the Texans awful Oline? Yea he did, would he have been better if he had to not go through that.....probably.

    hindsight is 20/20. its easy to say this guy is better than that guy when Carr and Smith are lucky to find teams right now. Who thought Brady would have turned out like he did?

    Its stupid to say Rogers is better than Smith 5 years after they were drafted. Well no , how many people said that draft day?

    Despite the success that Rodgers has had, he grew immensely once he entered the league. There's a great article on NFP about how McCarthy changed his mechanics, his footwork, etc. Look at the film, he holds the ball completely different. Coaching often gets overlooked. If SF had drafted him, or even us, I doubt he would be as good as he is.

    Mike Holmgren is considered one of best qb developers in the league. His affect on Favre can then be viewed by Aaron Rodgers and thus apply it to himself. Here you are trying to dispute Aaron Rodgers didn't benefit from watching an all-time great who was coached up by a well known qb developer....and did it from the comfort of the bench.

    If not having any of those situations was important to a qb's development, there wouldn't be 32 qb coaches on all 32 teams in the NFL. You can have the best mindset in the world coming in, but if you don't have the proper coaching and talent around your qb, he isn't going to fully develop.

    Favre => Hasselbeck => Locker

    I like the lineage.

    I'm not sure anyone would argue that "developing" behind a great QB or being in the league a few years would make you better than if you were a rookie especially with good coaching. But it is total non-sense to blame David Carrs complete lack of talent on his situation. David Carr could have sat behind the best QB of all time with the best QB coach of all time and he would still suck. Is Rodgers a better QB because of his sitation.... sure maybe he is but the difference between Rodgers and David Carr is like the difference between black and white. Rodgers would have done well eventually somewhere. Talent, work ethic, smarts, instincts whatever he has something Carr and Alex Smith don't have.

    Now this argument comes up constantly and of course Rodgers is the poster child for those who think sitting a QB is the best thing to do. But it ignores a far greater sampling of good QBs who didn't sit (go down the list of the best QBs and you will find most of them played within a year or so). It also ignores all those no name QBs (don't forget those) who sit as backups behind great QBs with great coaching and never do amount to anything. How about those guys who sat behind Manning all these years. How good are they. Using that logic they should be ready to blossum into sure fire studs with all that mentoring and coahcing by now.

    Well what is the point of coaches then? What is the point of scouting? IM NOT SAYING HE HASN'T HAD A PART IN BEING GREAT.........but he did land in a very beneficial situation.

    Ugh, why bring this up... It sickens me to know he went undrafted, signed in San Fran, voided that to go to the Titans, then Fisher waives him!?!? Like WTF, really fisher... Oh well whats done is done, and Harper looks just as good after 4 weeks of preseason.

    At least this coaching staff didn't waive Tommie Campbell.
