I think it is going to be 28 million guaranteed, 50 million overall.

I may be wrong, but wasnt his initial demand 30m guaranteed, 13m a year? IMO its too much and takes away from other players.

Anyway, it looks like they are going to give in to his demands if this is the case. The Front office better get used to this happening a lot in the future if they give him this now.

Hes exciting for sure, but at that price those negative yard runs better be far and in between.

Before today I was worried that CJ would not be on our team. Now I am worried that he will be. I really hope this dread in the pit of my belly about him is not foreshadowing of us making a mistake by paying this guy.

I think that it is all gossip at this point, but I had heard initial guaranteed demands of $40 MM range....and last weekend I heard Wyatt on NFL Radio saying that CJ wanted $13.5MM per year. As I have learned more about how this actually works I think that the annual salary is more of an "ego" number anyway (since the team can cut you at will), so I am ok with the team agreeing to closer to his demands here (if he actually performs to this level we will be ok...if not we can always cut or deal him).

The $30MM guaranteed is 60% of what Fitzgerald got and, I think, $10MM higher than Williams got, so I think that is pretty close to the "highest RB" scale without getting too far out of market. Just my opinion.

I tried but they weren't exactly a hot item. I couldn't get what I put into them. Then Fish got canned and Vince was released. And I liked what I heard from Munchak despite my initially being frustrated by his hiring. I'm meh on Chris Palmer, excited to see what Jerry Gray will be bringing. I don't know what to think about Locker, but I like what I'm seeing in Hasslebeck. So those developments have kept me interested in coming to the stadium. The real questions/interests I have left is to too see if we get ANY improvement in the gameday experience. That will keep me coming to games.

On the other point, I hope you believe, that although poorly worded, CJ's comments were directed to a narrow audience of people on twitter that were directing provocative comments at him and not the Titan's fans at large. I agree with those that have suggested we will further clarification including an apology to those that were offended once the ink is dry.

Thanks for answering, I did not know if anyone had actual numbers or if it was speculation.

That would be higher than what I've been thinking (5yr 50 mill w/ 30mill guaranteed). I'd be surprised to see the FO meeting that.

What I don't understand is why people are so resistant (almost hydrophobic) at the idea of CJ making >12 mill/yr. Vet salaries are going to continue to go up as the new cap distribution shifts from rookies to vets the next few years. I also don't understand how (or why) people rationalize that there is nothing "special" about CJ despite his accomplishing things that few and no other running backs have achieved. He IS unique. He DOES possess skills that "regular" people don't have. The market DOES support his compensation interests. It just comes off as bitter envy to me when so many people post venemous remarks and are quick to make him a villain. The guy held out because the front office didn't make good on a verbal reassurance they gave him last year. All he wants is to be compensated at market value- which is at the least what EVERY person on this boards wants in their OWN career (if not more).

    I agree.

That is the one variable in this scenario that I think is not being considered when we discuss this. Locker got what...around $12MM guaranteed for his contract? I do not have exact numbers, but I am guessing that is a whole lot less than what VY was guaranteed in 2006. This displaced money will go somewhere, and when the rookie scale was negotiated as part of the CBA I am quite sure that the players did not negotiate this with the intent of helping owners with profits. That is what drove the Fitzgerald deal to its level IMO, and I think it is also driving the CJ deal. This is the start of a new normal that we will be seeing in the next ten years IMO.
